Enemy tank engines silent?
So I'm noticing that when I'm playing Tank RB the tank engines sounds are really inconsistent or just straight up don't play any noise when you aren't looking in the direction of the enemy tank making them. Multiple times now I've had scenarios where I'm looking in the direction of an enemy, hearing their tank engine sounds in full (they are set to 100% in the sound options) but the moment I turn the camera away and the source of the noise is not longer in view, the engine sounds immediately die out and go silent. This is extremely annoying as I've had some of the loudest tanks sneak up on me without making a sound until I look at them and by then it's already too late because they put a round in my back.

Is this a problem for just me or are vanilla sounds really that broken? My solution so far is to spin the camera around 360 degrees every now and then so I can hear enemy engines starting their sound cycle again but after I look away from where it's coming from they go silent.

Do sound mods like Epic Thunder fix this issue?

Hi first off I don't have that problem because I have a Yamaha receiver With four of the best high end speakers hooked up i can even hear those hard ones like the aubl74s or most of the small tanks Its your speakers and not having a receiver remember most tanks know only to move then there Is a lot of noise going on or they know your around and move slow those are the hardest to hear If Im stationary I hear every thing but remember this game has no 5.1 surround there not smart enough or true direction of sound. Most of the time look to where they are most likely to come from.........good luck

I use a stereo headset and I've been able to use sound to detect and track enemy tanks very accurately.
Might be an issue with your audio setup
engine noise won't be heard much when sitting there snipping unless really close,

so I keep changing to binos or normal vision to keep an ear out for the pesky little ones trying to sneak up on you.

It also works best for me with headphones.

Also, as funny as it seems, I didn't hear enemy engine noise as well when I turned my engine noise down and theirs up in options.
I got jumped a lot the week I noticed that option, turned mine back up to about half, 2 thirds and enemy to max and am back to hearing them,

back to not getting jumped as much.........

v.odd.
