Thermal vision only for Russian tanks???

I went across all the "modifications" tab of all top tier tanks... All have night vision... as a tier 4 upgrade, except the russian ones that have it stock (like, who needs balance anyway?)

Then I noticed that no tanks except the T-80B and T-80U had the ability to research the Thermal sights... Seems very strange to me when tanks like The Leclerc doesn't have it stock while being developped in the late 90's

Am I wrong?

I know the Abrams and some of the American tanks has it, and the M60s in the Chinese tech tree.

I just checked it, absolutely NO tanks except T-80B and T-80U does have Thermal Vision. They ALL have the night vision device, but none of them get thermal, even the top of the line ones (I checked M1A1, Leopard 2A5, Ariete PSO, Type 90, Leclerc and Challenger 2. Even the Chinese MBT doesn't have it)

they have it but only in the gunner sights and the russians also just for the gunner sights. the russians however have nightvision from stock and just get the thermal gunner sight as modification while the others have the thermal and night vision sights in the night vision modification.

They were not at first, they were quite advanced actually until the ‘70s. By the mid ‘70s, they stopped upgrading as much FCS and thermal vision as NATO tanks as it is expensive (and they take the ‘let’s have 30,000 T-72s’ route), so they had good NV and thermals, but the thermals were so expensive they were only used on the T-80UK and T-80UM, while the NV started lagging behind. Same with FCS, the M60A3 got full ballistic computers, the T-64B (1976) and T-72s (1982) just got basic lead calculators.

I played the XM-1 and M1, I know they have gunner thermals, minimum. Thermals on the M60s (China at least) were specifically mentioned in the devblog.

The T-80B and T-80U get an upgrade. The Abrams series, Leopard 2A4 and 5, Leclerc, and more have Thermal. The Soviets are just a bit different. They were behind on the Thermal side, so the T-80's start with standard night vision, but once they upgrade their NVD, they loose the IR lamp and gain thermal.

ok i can now confirm on the t 80b there actually is a model change there gets a new sight added on the turret roof with the modification added

Yeah, and why night vision + thermal is a rank 4 (!!!) upgrade on most tanks... its not like you can do something in a night battle against someone that has NV and you don't... inb4 Top Tier grind frustration
