Hotas X not working

I've goten it to work once, and my drivers have detected the controller along with windows settings, but warthunder says device off whenever I enter into the controlls menu. I did update windows between when it worked and stoped working but I don't think that this would cause the issue. If anyone knows what the problem is a solution would be apriciated.

Make sure it's in PC mode and not playstation mode. There's a switch on the back.

yes, I have checked it in both ways just to make sure that the switch wasn't wired backwards or anything.

After a few updates of both the drivers and warthunder I'm expiriencign the same issue still. The buttons work and everything and I've gone through and tried every setting so I guess I spend 50$ for nothing then.

So I figured out that steam was trying to map it as a generic gamepad so all you have to do is launch warthunder without steam running and things work fine.
