Can someone explain why the french flag is on british planes?
what the title says, Cant find out why its on there and i would really like to know.

It isn't a french flag, it's the three colors of the british flag. The ones that look like french flags are from the early parts of the war. Later on, the red and the blue is slightly darker and the white stripe becomes a lot thinner. E.g. Early merlin spits compared to Griffon spits, you'll notice the difference on the 'french flag'

Are you talking about roundel insignas? The brits uses red dot and then goes white than red stripes while the french is reverse. The coating is quite well arranged for the french as the blue stands for commoners while the white and red are government and soldiers I presume for the red( similiar to the french flag ), while brits red stands for royalty so basically you could say "God Save the King!" and the government then commoners, you could say they might like eachother but has a whole different meaning.

This is what's called a "Fin Flash", and it's meant to be an easy identifier of friendly aircraft. All Commonwealth aircraft had one of these, in varying colours.

im talking about the french flag on the tail of most planes but AlaskaDonuts already explained what it means.
