What is the weakness of ARL - 44 ?

Hi, Im not an expert in WT but, when I saw the characteristics of this tank I thought it seems to be is a litle bit too powerfull for 5.7. To illustrate I compared it with the tiger.

Armor:

Tiger: 100mm not angled

ARL-44: 110mm not angled turret / 120mm angled (ca. 170mm efective) hull

Gun:

Tiger: 88mm

ARL-44: 90mm

Speed:

Both are circa equal fast

And I think the reason for the BR of the ARL must me some major weakness. Does anyone know what this weakness is?

when Gaijin has gathered more data on the performance of the different french tanks in players hands,they will adjust BRs accordingly. so expect incoming BR changes etc.

The sides and back of the hull and turret are thin enough for an SPAA to shoot through. The turret is very much penetratable frontally, especially through the gun mantlet. And it only gets APC ammunition.

Btw, the quality caliber of a gun is not relevant for how good it is. A lower caliber can be better in both penetration and accuracy.

I can see it going up to 6.0, 6.3 tops, but I don't think it's really OP where it is now.

Nah, brits hold that with their early apds rounds. Germans are pretty good for the aphe rounds though.

The turret armor is horrible. 110mm and flat, the tiger 1s turret is much stronger. This is quite a big weakness for a heavy tank.

The biggest weakness is its reversal gear that is extremely slow. For a french unit thats more then an isue :3

120 - 200mm with angled and overlapping parts.

Overall design of the tiger turret is quite complicated and hard to remember , especially on the E version. Only some of the middle parts of the mantlet are a flat 120mm. Shoot slightly off and you bounce or non-pen.


That is a big advantage over the ARL-44 where you can just lolpen when you have more than 120mm pen.
