Mass: 5080kg
Explosive Mass: 3361kg
FAB-1000
Mass: 1020kg
Explosive Mass 485kg
Explosive mass comparison: 3361kg vs 1940kg (4*485)
The damage a bomb does is more then just it's mass and amount of explosive filler... certain bombs are designed to explode differently and deal damage differently
the FAB-1000's do 1.21 tons of damage per bomb.
the FAB-5000's do 3.67 tons of damage per bomb.
x4 1000's will yeild 4.87 tons of damage, while the single 5000 will still only do 3.67 tons.
I'm definitely bombing bases... :/
Then how come 4x 1000's won't destroy a base if bases require 1.5 tons to destroy?
Just base bombed in a Yer-2 there. 2x 1000's and 4x 500's does 2.03 tons of damage. 66% damage to base.
something isn't adding up here.
None of these changes have any sort of official doccumentation...
nor is there any indication that these changes are official or intended...
so... yeah.
that's different.
I cannot tell you why the 5000kg bombs are doing less damage then x4 1000kg bombs which sport only a fraction of the explosive mass, because i cannot even say that the current damage model is correct or even intentional.
If you do the math of how much explosive mass is with the x4 1000 bombs and compare it with the FAB-5000 and you will see that the x4 1000's have a lower exlosive mass total then the FAB-5000 which doesnt add up for the base damage if the damage is taken by the explosive mass of the bombs.
If you look at it as area covered by explosives, you can probably get more out of a group of smaller bombs and a wider area. Larger bombs are more deadly at the centre, but explosive radius expands at half the rate of the mass (ish) and area at the square root of the increase in mass.
So a bomb 4x the size, covers 2x the area. That shows that multiple smaller bombs cover a wider area.
though you can use either the french F.222.2 or the N.C.223.3 with the payload
100 kg No.1 x12
200 kg No.1 x15
to take out a single base in arcade, though the 2 bombers are OP for base bombing even for rank I
yea, just played a match and I dropped all my bombs from the N.C.223.3 to the side of a base completely missing the entire base and I still destroyed it, doesnt even matter where the bombs land, only matters how much explosive mass damage is done to the base
x4 1000s for Bombing bases and the Airfield
both the 4x1000kg and the 5000kg seem to do same exact damage model for arcade bases
but i do recommend the 4x1000kg as it can give you more leeway for mid health bases
