For head-ons I usually fire a long burst from 1.5-1.2km out, and roll out of the way before enemy rounds can get to me. One of 3 things happens:
1. I take out the enemy
2. I do enough damage to give me the advantage in a fight (head-ons will usually damage engines pretty well)
or 3. I miss and since i rolled out I can continue straight and away from the enemy.

LOL, I just have three questions, to ask.

1. Are you using wing mounted planes?( if you head on with a nose mounted plane you will have a more likely chance to die)

2.How are they forcing you to head on?( just curious)

3.If question one doesn't matches your description, what armanment are you using?

Simply don't head on is the best tip, if you think you will get destroyed in a head on. Or faint a head on, that means do manuvers and dodge the incoming fire and make him do another round, if you are a better turner than him, turn and engage, it's a tactic I used when playing my spitfires.

1. Yes

2. Usually I bnz and as I get within guns range they pull up and I'm going too fast to dodge. Or In the beginning where I compete for high altitude I either turn around and get shot as they catch up to me or headon and hope for a t elast a kill before I go down.

3. I use the p51 all modles which include stock p-51H so 6 freedom cals

Spitfires are much "easier" to use in this game as they fit the current meta very well.

As a result of my avoiding headons I limit myself to energy traps and people at my tier are very smart and dive at the first notice. Plus I am usually uptiered because of my stock p-51h so I cant outrun or outdive anything which eliminates US planes strengths.

Ah, P 51 Ds\H models are abit sketchy, if you go up against German and Italians you are at a major disadvantage when going head on, remember you are wing mounted so your guns are not that accurate compared to their nose mount, also they have MG 151 they bascially have access to the best shell the Mine Shell, they hit harder when they land on wings and engine block so it's not ideal to head on to begin with (also just because you have more guns dosen't mean you'll win over a cannon).

The best way to encounter them in the P 51D is before they force you to head on, kill them first, and the best way, is use Stealth rounds loaded up and BnZ at the start and stop using tracers if you are, it's one of my most hated rounds since people using them, should also take to mind that tracers are easy to let your enemy avoid your shots and pulls manuvers on you since the P 51 is quite sluggish compared to Germans and Italians.

If you really insist on head ons set you gun convergence to 800m(load weither it's tracer or Stealth) and shot from 1km-1.3km, and if he is close to 600m, pull away as you can't win anymore, since hes at his killing range.

What I do is I aim my guns a little above the top of their plane, fire, and roll and pull off to the left or right, usually pilot snipes them if they don't evade.

That actually works XD. Except I got did it with the spits, and usually ends up getting it's engine block on fire.

Yeah it's harder with the spits since the guns are wing mounted, and Hispanos tend to have a largish spray. It works great with 109s/190s/Yaks though. Sometimes you can get lucky with Spits, because I head on'd with a 109 and pilot sniped him lol.

There's an easy way to stop being bad at headons. The solution is this: Just get better at them.

600m converge is the sweet spot for wing mounted weaponry though.

And how did u figure that out?

Ill give u the best advice ever. Get a plane with good armament, p47, fw 190, p51d, p38 etc.. If it has a nose cannon much better. Heres the tip to win every single headon: when u see they are getting close to you change to the cockpit view and start shooting at 1km. Theres an aiming problem when u aim in the 3rd view ( vertical convergence or something like that) so if u aim with the gun sight u wont have this problem. Use 600-500mtr of convergence) It works for me all the time, try it yourself.
