Let's look at the D4Y as well:
The D4Y has a bomb crutch. Its purpose is to throw the bomb out of the bay, to allow it to bomb vertically. However:
-It doesn't allow you to bomb vertically
-When bombing horizontally using the bomb sight, the sight doesn't correct for the crutch (which now decides to work where you don't want it to) causing it to throw the bomb far ahead of where the sight shows
-The above also applies to bombs mounted on the wings, which don't have crutches, yet still have the crutch effect making them impossible to aim horizontally.
It even happens when you're looking through your sights and not trying to bomb with a moderate dive.
