network limited on launcher?

I have played this game years ago and never had this problem, thought about reinstalling it today and i did, and I can't even get past the launcher. It says downloading launcher update, but it is stuck on network limited. Ive already looked around and reinstaling doesnt seem to be worth the time.
Ive checked my firewall too, it is allowed connection to the internet and such
I've restarted the launcher and even my computer a few times but no luck, any fixes?

you should have a look into the launcher logs (located in the ..\War Thunder\.launcher_log\ folder) - there might be a reason or at least a hint given in them.

might also be worth to have a look into the startapp logs (..\War Thunder\.start_app_logs\)

did you already try to run the launcher(.exe) directly in the WT game folder rather than starting the game from Steam ? maybe even try running the launcher.exe with admin privileges !?

admin privileges does not fix it
cant find a startapp logs folder

this was from launcher log, all the different logs ive tried are identical so one is the same as all the others

that launcher version is (severely) outdated... no clue why the launcher isn't able to update itself but you could download and run the launcher installer from the warthunder.com website.

while running the installer you need to make sure the installation path / destination folder is set to your current game folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\War Thunder\) otherwise it will install the standalone game client into the default path.

(beware - the installer tends to add another ..\War Thunder\ at the end of the path once you've picked a folder... in this case you need to delete the additional ..\War Thunder\ manually to make sure the launcher is getting installed into the correct folder overwriting the existing files.)

once done try running the game from Steam again...
