Why doesn't the Firefly have VVSS?
I do not know everthing about tanks, but i am puzzled as to why all Shermans seem to have VVSS or whatever allows them to quick-stop, stabilize centre gun, and shoot.

My question is, if the Firefly uses a Sherman chassis, why doesn't it have the same stabilizing qualities as the other Shermans?

I don't know about you, but the sherman suspension isnt what help stablises the Gun.
US production shermans were fitted with gun stablisers, it was probably removed from the sherman firefly to make room for the 17.pdr.

The only nation I know of that uses supension to help with gun stabilisation on the move is Germany, with thier leaf suspension on the Panther for example.

To fit the 17pdr in the sherman turret they had to turn the gun on its side they were pushed to get it in at all never mind the stabilizer. It was a quick improvisation to deal with the tiger and panther which chewed up ordinary Shermans

Tbh i wasn't 100% sure what stabilizes the gun, just guessed that.

You're thinking of torsion bar suspension, though. Leaf spring suspension can be found on the earlier German chassis.

The 17 pounder is almost too big to even fit in a sherman turret. Plus they had to cram the crew in there also, so there wasnt much room for niceities like stabalizers
