For sheer ease of use though I'd say go for the P-51. It is slightly more nimble than the F4U and there isn't really any comparison between 6 50s and 4 cannons.
There isnt much of a comparison, but i find the 50s a little more accurate over long range(800m and over) and cannons more reliable short range(400 and below). As most engagements are within that area there isnt sucha big deal though. Much prefer the Hispano p51 then the ones with 50s
@topic - also depends on how you wish to use the aircraft. P51 can turn fight a little, just dont stay too long. But compared to alot of planes you will face it wont compare if you plan to turn fight non stop. Both are decent at BnZ, id agree the F4u is a little better performance wise in that regard.
I think it is inferred that he is talking about the P-51 with 4 cannons because it is the same battle rating and right next to the F4U-1D in the tree but that is pure speculation on my part.
