P51 or F4U 1D?

P51 cause its nice and easy to rip planes wings off with those 20mms. This helps keep you from needing to chase and dogfight (which in AB at least) is an absolutely futile attempt cause odds are you will lose

The spaded F4U will outperform the spaded P-51 by some margin, I'd say it is a better energy fighter. Certainly less control surface lock-up at high speed.

For sheer ease of use though I'd say go for the P-51. It is slightly more nimble than the F4U and there isn't really any comparison between 6 50s and 4 cannons.

Depends on whether if you play arcade or realistic. THe only thing that matters in arcade is how many cannons you have and how fast the turn speed is. So go with the p51 if you play arcade.

There isnt much of a comparison, but i find the 50s a little more accurate over long range(800m and over) and cannons more reliable short range(400 and below). As most engagements are within that area there isnt sucha big deal though. Much prefer the Hispano p51 then the ones with 50s

@topic - also depends on how you wish to use the aircraft. P51 can turn fight a little, just dont stay too long. But compared to alot of planes you will face it wont compare if you plan to turn fight non stop. Both are decent at BnZ, id agree the F4u is a little better performance wise in that regard.

F4u's are much better at dogfighting and have 2 more rocket's. But this only applies if you are referring to the 4.3 p51 with 6 50 cals

I think it is inferred that he is talking about the P-51 with 4 cannons because it is the same battle rating and right next to the F4U-1D in the tree but that is pure speculation on my part.
