How do I counter high tier spitfires?

I know, I know. I seem like a complete idiot asking this. But I feel like I can't do anything against them, they outturn, outrun and outclimb anything with canons that seem to be capable of turning my poor G-6 into ashes in just a matter of seconds.

Are you sure? I am almost always encountering them at 6000-7000m.

That's the poor state of Germany in tier 4. The Griffon Spitfires does everything a bf109 or fw190 can do but better.

Never see a Spitfire over 3000 meters.

Hell, it's rare enough that I see bombers at 6000 to 7000 meters.

You sure we're playing the same game? There is almost always at least 2-3 Griffons or LF Mk9 spacefires in the stratosphere by the time I read 6k

Lol what? Most Spitfires climb into space, and that's why they have the nickname "Spacefires". I know whenever I play my Spitfires I'm up at like 7000 meters, at-least for the initial engagement.

The G6 is the heaviest 109 in the game. It performs quite bad to its other counter parts (G2, G10 and G14). The only way I used my G6 was to equip 3 MK108's and hunt bombers or heavy fighters. But even when I'm flying out Fw 190 D's or 109 K's I'm barely able to kill Spit Mk 22 or 24's. I would just avoid them in a 1 on 1.

Sideclimb, even if it costs half the game. If you have the altitude advantage and energy advantage, you will prevail.

The G-6 is a complete piece of trash, it was terrible before the 109 mega nerf and it's even worse now. I don't think you should even bother engaging spitfires in it unless you have superior energy AND altitude. And you're unlikely to have either of those things because they out climb and out accelerate you. Either get the K-4 and spade that or if you want to fly 109 fly the G-2, it is easily the most competitive one right now. I'd say the only German props with half a chance of killing properly piloted griffon spitfires are the D-9 and 13, perhaps the 152C. Everything else is tragically outclassed.

They need to revert the Bf-109 nerf.
