why cant I fight with german fighters? (energy fighting)
I know that the german Fw-190s and Me-109s ar Energy fighting planes. I watcht many videos now and startet serval discussions but I still dont get how energy fighting works.
I know that the german fighters aren`t made for turnfighting, but even if i try to outclimb the enemy i get shot down in such an alarming rate, that i slowly think that going back to turnfighting is the better choice to get at least some points with the german planes (*fighters. the bombers and heavy fighters are a complete waste in my opinion)

The F-4 is a fantastic plane overall, and with the 15mm pods it's truly a devastating machine. But it takes practice to learn the energy fighting mechanics, once you get them right, it's a blast.

Now, you don't want to get too eager with the diving speed, always know the limits of your airframe, you can get 750 km/h in a dive (without gunpods, I've only gotten away with like 720 km/h with them) (at which point you should be horizontal or not gaining any more speed, *NOT TURNING HARD*), but diving at that speed gives you control stiffening, and if the plane you're diving on makes a simple turn you'll be going to fast to do anything. You should also keep in mind that turning too hard at max. diving speed will rip your wings no matter what, I've found the maximum speed for -full elevator- turns are around 640-660 km/h, but always try to play it safe.

Now, when trying to outclimb an enemy it doesn't mean to just put the plane on a 70° climb and hope that the enemy plane will stall, you're going to get killed. What you're trying to achieve is get yourself on a position where you have the energy advantage.

Situation #1 where you're not in an advantage:

-Your fighter:
ALT: 1000m
IAS: 410km/h

-Enemy fighter:
ALT: 750m
IAS: 620km/h

Here you might have an advantage on potential energy, but the enemy has a kinetic energy advantage. If you were to try and outclimb this plane you'll end up stalling first and thus giving the enemy fighter a pretty easy kill.

Situation #2 where you're in an advantage:

-Your fighter:
ALT: 800m
IAS: 500km/h

-Enemy fighter
ALT: 400
IAS: 500km/h

In this situation you have equal kinetic energies, but you posess the potential energy advantage, if the enemy fighter were to climb to you, you'd easily outclimb him.

The mind-set that I have for german planes (and that has worked for me) is trying to play agreesive but safe at the same time, always keeping an advantage over the enemy. I usually climb to 6,5km (or as I call it, WEP heaven) and plan my way down. Another tip is that you should never go for low targets (as in 1000m low), leave those to the people that are below you. DO NOT WASTE ENERGY, ENERGY IS YOUR FRIEND.

German fighters are really good, but learning to fight with them is a challenge of it's own. Currently im struggling with the K4 cannons and MGs, but im getting closer to mastering it.

I'm not really a 190 man so I can't really give my opinion about them, but apparently the D-9/D-12 are amazing planes, from what I've heard, and I'll be grinding that tree after I get done with some bombers.

Mr Headdown is this a troll thread or are you above 50 and still learning how to play video games ? I have read about your probs in several threads and you remind me of my dad who is 69 and is overwhelmed by some games ( like war thunder ) he likes it but he just cant handle the game (at least in Multiplayer ) ;) You re making such MAJOR mistakes that iam really wondering. I would like to help but if you dive on a Spitfire ripping your wings in the progress and than asking questions about energy fighting there is not much advice i can give you.

what do i do when I failed my attack on a enemy plane from above and now im under it and try to get up again? mostly when this happens (if the enemy plane is issnt buisy at the moment) it gets attantion on me and i get shot down with 4 bullets.

the Fw-190 is my baby. If you miss your drop on an enemy, then go back up, dont turn around you will bleed speed.stay high pick a target and drop in on them. just dont dive vertical from too high.

Jez looks like i hurt some feelings didnt want to be rude sorry mate - but not to hit your wing rip speed is really basic and not hard to avoid.
