Any Point to M4A2?
I'm currently grinding BR 3.7 with Americans in Arcade.

M4A2 is BR 4.3, but has very similar stats to the M4 as far as I can tell. And there are no other American tanks >3.7 until you get to 4.7

Is there any point to adding the M4A2 to my lineup instead of just grinding the 4.7 tanks and switching all at once? Is it actually significantly better than the 3.7 M4?

it is good, get it, go for m61 and and apcr, also the tracked armour, and if u play realist battles then get the smoke shell too, comes in handy a lot

The M4A2 gets APCR ammo which can pen up to 143mm of armor. APCR ammo + quick reload time = good tank for fighting heavier adversaries such as KV-1s and Tigers

It's honestly a BR stopgap between 3.7 and 4.7. Even with APCR and armor mods, you're still fighting Panzer IVs and KVs/T-34s which can:

1) Still pen you

2) Either shrug off your M61 rounds or receive minimal damage from APCR

I would just grind out the rest of the 3.7 tanks to use in your line-up, then start grinding the M4A1 76mm, the M6A1, and the M4A3E2 Jumbo.

the m4a2 actually as 63.5mm frontal armor compared to the others. the turret armor is also double layered, and may pose a threat to some pz4s. its a decent tank overall compared to the shermans before it

Keep in mind for the thicker armor, the slope is decreased. The M4 has a 50mm plate, but sits back at a 54 degree slope, giving about 82mm dead center of the hull. The M4A2 goes up to 63.5mm, but drops the slope to 45 degrees, giving a minor advantage of about 4mm more effective armor (86mm). Also dropes the 88mm plate for the gunner for a better, more angled shape.

Though I would argue that the hull of the M4A2 is safer. The M4 does have the better slope (which we all know angles work best in WT), but still has the driver and MG port with just some some welded plates protecting it and the large, unprotected buldge beside the hull gunner.
