Worth it to play as a true F2P?
I don't plan on buying any vehicles or Eagles, so is it worth it to play this game without spending a single penny and still have a fun time/unlock most of he planes and tanks?

It will take you hundreds/thousands of hours to unlock anything above Tier 4. Especially tanks.

If you have no intention of going past that then it's doable. If you want Tier 5 stuff though you're pretty much required to spend money, unless you have unlimited play time.
I got 'till tier 5 (just the ability to research a tier 5 tank) without spending any dime, so it's possible, I did it in 500 hours but, that was only with one nation. Also, Tier 5 is not impossible if you don't have premium, is harder and has an almost unberable grind (specially for modifications). Also, things change if you are interested in planes or in tanks, in tanks the grind is harder but in planes, the real problem is researching tier 5, 9.0 jets.

I personally reached t5 in about 400hours, but I only played german tanks. I did this without spending any money, but also over a long period of time (meaning that I made use of lots of daily boosters).
F2P is an option. If you want an authentic, but balanced WW2 experience, you don't even need to research t5: t2/3 (3 to 4.7 br) is fun and the queues are short (at least on EU).

but I really want the jets... tanks are kinda boring and too hard for me.

Oh, sorry. nowadays I have some planes, but I only play them in tank RB and I don't own any jets, so I couldn't tell you about that.

For planes it should be possible to get to jets without spending money. Will take you some time though.

For tanks yeah don't expect to go anywhere past tier 3 without premium. The grind is 2-3 times longer than planes for some reason.

im trying to unlock a jet for 2 years now
and there have been people who reach jets in mere weeks aparently, never tried that kind of intense grind myself but it pretty well illistrates how meaningless when you started is if you are willing to put in the work

i started in 2014, play only for fun and dont actually care about grinding, i happen to have more or less inadvertantly reached teir 5 in both tanks and air for 3 nations in that time, t4 in most others and yet you will still moslty find me in T3 matches because high teir simply isnt fun

I feel that T2 & T3 aircraft is where it's at, feels more authentic to me as War Thunder was originally in the WW2 Era, so i feel those tiers are more fun.

Yes. Ive been playing WT since 2013 and i havent bought any premium vehicle or GE. I bought Premium once because I wanted to get the p51d faster while i was playing SB but thats all. I have almost all rank 1-4 fighters for all nation without paying a dollar.

Ive got tier 5 planes in Germany, USA, Soviets and Britain (japan still tier 4). I've got tier 4 in all of those and tier 5 in germany, soviets and british tanks.... You do not need to spend money in the game. Yes, tier 5 vehicles require a lot of time to unlock but not as much as high tier vehicles in other games such as world of.....

Now you may think that spending lots of hours unlocking a tier 5 is really bad but what people oftenly don't mention is that every tier is fun, and lower tiers are actually better balanced and more fun than higher tiers of the game. Not only that in lower tiers its really easy to unlock vehicles, and each vehicle has its own stats and had an amazing work poured into its creation.

The thing is that theres OVER 700 vehicles in this game, and while maybe 50 are difficult to unlock (those high tier ones) the other 650 are made with the same quality and care and most of them can be unlocked just playing a few games (tier 1 vehicles can be unlocked even in 1-2 good games.....).

So yes this game is worth it. People complain about grinding, but fail to see how much content the have easily unlocked without paying anything for it. Also this game doesnt have p2w mechanics as other games, you will always face vehicles similar to the ones you chose to play the match and theres no premium ammo or ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ like that.
