Here's a list of all the hidden aircraft in the game.
https://forum.warthunder.com/index.php?/topic/208590-hidden-playable-planes-the-complete-list/
No, they gave the A-26C-45 away several different times.
At the time of the MSI laptop code (For a while it was the only way to get it, making it something like a $2000 premium...), and then after Indian Summer event, it was pretty rare.
Then a German Magazine basically had a code that was only for people subscribed to the magazine before it was posted online and hundreds (thousands?) of people who weren't supposed to get one, got one. Since then it's been given away in another event and at least one, maybe two facebook giveaways.
The other variant is the "DT" model, only available to PS4 players. This was sold as a pack, so it isn't really rare at all.
The impression you get of them being rare was because they were horribly over-tiered at 6.0, and have recently been moved to 5.3.
The rarest plane in the game at this time (I believe) is the LaGG-3-4, which is a plane awarded to individuals by the developers as a "thank-you". At this point, I believe it is more or less an admin-only plane.
Ah okay, I know way back it was as like you said, the only way to get one was to buy that laptop.
Nah, there were a lot of people who threw their wallets at the game for it. It's rare, but nowhere near as rare as the LaGG-3-4.
Well, I mean, there are "Rare" vehicles that aren't in the tech tree and can only be acquired in events, and then there are those that are so rare that they don't even get handed out in events.
That's the reason why, but there are others.
A) A lot of people see them as trophies/"Garage Queens" (And, hence, don't use them).
B) A lot of the time, these vehicles are Tier 1-3, and most people who have the skill, time, etc, to acquire them are researching rank 5's or already have most/all other vehicles.
C) A lot of the time, the vehicles really actually aren't that great to begin with, or are "situational".
D) A lot of the time, the vehicles have a higher BR (I feel) than they should, which essentially cements them into the "A" category above. Because there aren't a lot of games with them to get reliable statistics, the only way to move the BR is feedback directly to Gaijin and try to plead with them (Which, I think is the A26's case, however, now with the A-26B (F2P), they will have more statistics to play with).
Fw 189 is OK. I think I've played two games in mine. Issue is really just that it's fragile and you're more or less flying an observation plane in with fighter planes... Like Po-2.
