Spitfire carburetor
Spitfires have carburetors, that fail if you perform negative G manuveres. But you can upgrade the fuel injection in the mod tree. How is that?

Magic.

The Carburetor just didn't fail, but it limited fuel supply and would cause starvation if you continued for too long - far from ideal in negative g's.

I think by Mk2 they had a fix/workaround look up: 'Miss Shillings Orifice' A 'floating carburetor' fitted early on to fix the issue.

Versions for V on wards were also (retro)fitted with a Bendix carb that eliminated the issue totally using something called 'throttle body injection'

Yes, I know it's due to fuel starvation, sorry for not clarifying it. The problem is that the game instead of giving you a carburetor modification gives you fuel injection.

Sorry for not explaining in detail, the final version of the fix was a 'Throttle-body fuel injection' method by the Bendix corporation. Its a type of pressure carburetor and as such a method of fuel injection.

Also I was wrong to say fuel starvation; it's power starvation caused by flooding. The Orifice solution just added a washer to control fuel flow - simple and effective for most fast combat movements allowing spitfires from Mk2 onwards to pull fast negative G's to go into a dive.

Long and short of it, the Spitfire negative G's was a short lived problem, and an upgraded called 'fuel injection' should be available for MkV onwards.
