You also want to pick out the guys who have gone out alone if possible. The last thing you want is to have multiple people notice the smoke after you fire and realize that somebody was shot at from that area as they WILL come for you (or all point guns on that area). If they see you, even if you kill them, it is time to move. They may come back in a second tank and come after you or worse, an aircraft.
Don't just sit back the whole match either, even a sniper is able to move up for the most. If you pick a few off and your team advances, do the same. Move up to a new spot or if possible, to cap points and be helpful. But if you are a good shot and have a good gun, use it to your, and your teams advantage to pick them off. Also look for other snipers or people watching caps.
However if I remember rightly the T25 and M26 fight Tiger 1s and Tiger IIPs respectively, which will both outclass you at sniping (the Tiger IIP dramatically so).
Hey You In The Bushes gave you some pretty good advice as well.
Not a whole lot I could add to that, overtime you'll learn what are good positions to go on whats and what are bad. You might even learn certain ranges of maps (such as you know when you're in your favourite position that bridge is 800m away and that tree line is about 1200m away).
Basically you can be "that" guy and flank around the entire map to spawn kill.
Or you can do it the right way, go around the main battle area and get to the side of the enemies. As they are shooting at your team mates. You get them right into the side and in the ammo rack. Watch out for enemy medium and light tanks too since flankers usually take around the same route. Make sure to move once you kill the enemy since you will get spotted if you chill in the same spot.
I really wish the M26 would be 6.0 BR same as T25 though.
