French equipment was some of the best of the day, but a critical lack of good tank doctrine limited their effectiveness.
Of course!
There you go!

Took me less than 10 seconds to google this !!
if french tanks were in wt they would be pretty good, this is due to the fact that wt is different to a real life scenario, in reality, the french were better than the german tanks at the current point in time (germans mostly had pz.3 in 1940) in aspects such as armour and turrets although were longer as they expected much more trench warfare, they failed in one category which was the fact that the french tanks had 1 crew in the turret so 1 crew member to:
-find the enemy target
-tell the driver whether to keep moving or not
-load the gun
-aim at the enemy
-fire
-take out the shell
-load in another shell
-look for an enemy
-tell driver whether to take action
and its quite a lot for 1 person, this however will not matter in wt as you are always in 3rd person view and your crew are good at multitasking.
french tanks, good in wt, bad in real life.
I have no doubt that had events happened slightly differently and the French could have stayed in the war, they would have had some of the most effective tanks in existence. Many of their designs were implemented post-war, though.
They would make a great addition to this game, and I have had the pleasure to mess with them in the 'other' tank game extensively.
Mid WW2 only ARL 44 was actualy produced as prototype, other produced vehicle were truck fitted with brit AA/AT guns
Postwar, Shermans got upgunned with a long barrel 105mm gun so it might count
Then come the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of postwar tanks with AMX 13 variants going from ATGM platforms to AA passing through heavy tank guns, similar for the ELC AMX but with much more instant reload HEATFS bias launcher
