Is War Thunder still using peer-to-peer in launcher ?
As title says.
I stopped playing WT because it connected me to peer-to-peer network upon launch (launcher used p2p for faster downloads of updates?), which caused my network to die due to whatever anti-peer-to-peer systems were set up in UK.

Now I'm back home, but I am still reluctant to install WT if it still allows my connection to be visible to whatever botnets out there.

Thanks.

Yes the WT Launcher is still using P2P via the Gaijin.Net Agent by default. You can stop the Gaijin.Net by following one of these 2 guides:

yes the launcher is still using p2p (torrent) without any option to completely disable it...

and removing the gaijin agent wont do anything about it so you can ignore the mentioned guides (they are misleading and plain wrong anyway)

you could use tools like peerblock, peerguardian or other similar tools to block certain p2p connections. however even using such tools there is no guarantee for 100% security and you may experience other issues if you use them...

also they may not fix your 'network dieing' issue

Who is your ISP in the UK? I have never heard of them putting a block on P2P networks.

I started using peerblock just because of WT.

Shame...

It does not matter any more (besides I dont know, wasnt really paying for Internet), what matters is that my network bandwidth was destroyed as soon as I launched WT (only router restart helped).

And yes AP2P means anti-peer-to-peer, in short if you download torrents and are detected you get put in a blocklist because some ISPs like to eat ass too much, go figure.

Peerblock revealed interesting stuff:

could be true, could be false ^^

for quite some time the IP of one of the profile servers of Gaijin has been blocked by PeerBlock with the message that it is related to the 'Church of Scientology' 8D

see, IPv4 addresses are getting sold on a daily basis nowadays since they are quite scarce - tools like PeerBlock need some time to catch up with those changes (and i assume often they'll only have a look into it if it gets reported by someone otherwise it'll be blocked until eternity).

...but since it got blocked anyway there is nothing to worry about anyway ;)

Gaijin's problem not its clients.
