Need help, War thunder account was hacked, i got it back but the guy changed my name

I've seen some mods be on this forum, is there anything I can do to get my name changed back without paying? He made my name into a neo-nazi name with derogatory slurs in russian, and I don't want to pay for it when he hacked my account (god only knows how) through the launcher. (He didn't gain access to anything else, thank god)
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I've used both Google Authenticator (for Chrome) and WinAuth, as Eftwyrd mentioned above. Both worked just fine for me. Nowadays I use my phone, but if you don't have one both Google Auth and WinAuth are great alternatives.

Those who enabled 2FA a long time ago can still keep their 2FA, but for anyone else who hasn't (like me), the button to use 2FA on warthunder.com is greyed out until I bind my account to a mobile phone with SMS capability, phone number is required for that. Google Authenticator and WinAuth don't give me a phone number that I can use for that.

I wasn't aware of any changes. Let me mess around with it, one bit.

edit: You are correct, it does require you to bind your phone to your Gaijin account before you are able to enable the 2FA.

However you do not really need a smartphone for this, I believe. Binding your phone is only to ensure they are able to contact you in case of an attack on your account. Once I recieved the SMS I was then given the option of enabling the 2FA on Google Auth, WinAuth, or my phone.
