Damage is handled server-side so hacking that would be unlikely; i would just make it out to be RNG honestly.

He's right; your barrel can be severely damaged but if the breach is still intact firing is still possible. Though black would be the "Peeled barrel" i'm wondering if this is a client not rendering damage properly.
