Interstellar Marines

Can Players Host Servers?
Just wanted to know if we can host servers that will appear in the Server list in the future.

Thanks for your time. :)

This is something we've discussed, but have not made a final decision on. At the moment we're concentrating on making Interstellar Marines the best game we can make it. However player servers is on our Big List of features we'll be looking at, and is something I personally hope we're able to implement.

Player hostable dedicated servers would be absolutely fantastic, especially for LAN gaming (which still exists despite EA and other's best efforts), and for those of us who are not so lucky as to have reliable, stable internet connections.

Dedicated servers will make the difference between a few people buying it, and a few people getting all their mates in on this. I can't wait to see the finished product!

Not to mention, Oceania typically gets completely forgotten and shafted when it comes to creator-hosted servers. There are 25 million+ people in this region and a few of us spend enough time not riding around in Kangaroo pouches to want to play games.

No one force you to enter privatly hosted servers.
thats not what I'm afraid of. its getting banned for being good and get swiched to the admin's team is what I'm afraid of.

In my experience there are good admins and bad admins, just like there are good players and bad players.

Aww, but riding around in kangaroo pouches is SO much more fun than games! :beatmeat:

love to play with my friend not with other people so would be cool to host a server

Well, this could be implemented into the single player story by adding cooperative play. Additionally, for people that want to play on servers with their friends, they could activate the LAN mode and use Tunngle/Hamachi to connect over long distances. The team modes for online play could be bots vs. players or a mixture of all of the above.
I agree with the idea. Personally, I enjoy playing with my friends privately more often than in massive servers where I may or may not like whoever is online.

When complete Interstellar Marines will have a large, immersive coop campaign. We're expecting the first part of that to be complete by the end of 2014. So you'll be able to play purely with your friends in that environment.
