Shall I buy this game and will my Intel® HD Graphics 4400 run it?
Hey folks,
Been watching for starpoint gemini for some time, have some questions though. Would be thankful if someone answers:
1) Is there a story mode right now?
2) Is the game single-player only?
3) What can i do in the game right now? Complete quests, trade, buy and customize ships, battle? What is more to come?
4) How many hours are required to fully complete the game?
5) Can it run on my ultrabook with intel 4030u with intel hd 4400?
Thank you.

1) Yes there is.

2) Yes.

3) Play the campaign, freeroam, battle, trade, mine, capture ships, hunt/collect blueprints, do freelance missions, hunt and kill the "heros", explore and work on achievements. The upcoming features list is ten miles long, including but not limited to owning and running a faction and base(s), dynamic struggles for area control etc. between factions, expansion(s?) and DLC(s?) are planned and the list goes on.

4) Depends on how you dedicate and spend your time on top of your playstyle. I'd give it atleast 20h for campaign, if you aim to fly something larger than your starting ship and do some exploration while at it. There's stuff to do though, that will keep you playing for well over 50h+ on a single save. I'm sitting at 80h+ currently on one single save.

5) Unfortunately, as far as I know, no. You will need a proper GPU to run the game.

1) campaign is availiable beside the free roam mode

2) single player only

3) well, you didn't go much into detail in your mentioned points but there is also crafting and customization of skills, special abilitys, looting wrecks and conquering ships to loot and keep in your garage to fly them. I think there is more to come but i recommend to have a look on their official website forum. Can't tell you much about that.

4) many, many hours i guess. lvl cap is raised to 80 now and it takes maybe 70 hours or more to beat the game in just one playthrough. Campaign is like a mix of freeroam and story telling quests. So guess what that means for playing all three basic skill trees (commander, engineer, warrior)

5) It may take the game in lower resolution and lowest settings, but i would not recommend that to you. Your processor and graphics may struggle until becoming unplayable. Maybe some other people have some experience bout that.

Based on his description of his laptop(Name of the model, processor & GPU.), I believe it's this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Toshiba-Z40-A-18Q-Ultrabook-i3-4030U-Professional/dp/B00LTMLWFU#productDetails and thus, with nothing but the integrated GPU, won't be able to run the game.
Thank you, will get the game when i update my main rig.

Well, integrated graphics was never meant to give you a performance of a real, discrete graphics I'm afraid. After all, why would anybody buy a discrete card for a 100 bucks if the one you got with your cpu would just do the job fine? But this is not the reason: an integrated graphics simply has not the resources to handle all the processes a modern 3d game demands, simply as is. Older games are ok, of course, because integrated graphics has improved a lot in the last years, so it is possible now to play Farcry on a HD4000 in full details for example. But you still have to back 6-7 years with the titles to enjoy them fully on integrated solutions.

the problem is that alot of generic computers these days are sealed and non upgradable, and most come with built in on board intel graphics accelerators :-( i was even told that this computer had an nvidia card yet after searching for one i've found that it in fact only has an intel card :(

What happened to your old gal? You said that was running the game just fine. I have tried SG2 on my old c2d the other day: c2d E6400, 2 GB DDR2 533MHz, an old ATA 80 GB HDD and an Nvidia GTX 460 - the whole thing prob cost about 80 quid - still runs the game just fine.
