They were pretty good at running away in loops between sectors but you could learn their escape patters and all your moves would be always parallel to theirs. As a result you would constantly teleport between 2 sectors and fire your weapons at him in meantime.
I remember pirates being the biggest badasses in space after long time in game, because they always had red artefact enchanced weapons/systems.
Space Rangers 2, epic game thx for reminding x)
just press aqw at the same time!
Btw guys, I'm onto Space Rangers HD now.
It's got synergies for combinations of artifacts + wormhole equipment.
Tranculators are now orderable just like wingmen; as a group.
At frist I thought the Taurus was a pretty crappy ship but it served me very well up to level 14 destroying ships far above it's class once outfited with decent weaps and enhancements. It also makes a great starter capture ship and can cap any gunship in the game. Capping ships is a great way if not the best way to earn money or at at least 10x faster than you'll make from missions. Each gunship netted about 150K to 200K and corvetts about 350K.
My next ship was the Abeja. This frigate has the hard points of a destroyer and 55 crew which will allow you to capture other frigates for 850,000 to 1M worth of credits a capture! It's also helpful to take the Engineer skill tree which can boost Troop strength and of course grab all the crew buffs you can find for transporter capacity and troop strength.
if friendlies help its no big deal, you can just fire a couple of shots and then stay at a safe distance...if you do a level 70 hero alone in the gunship, well make sure you have a turret that can fire backwards, and a nice supply of mines and turrets (just makes it easier) and then it's a question of staying at a safe distance kiting the hero around..did it with that doubleback guy cause no friendly help near..just takes a while, though once shields are down the hull goes down fast (and have a handfull of long range missiles too, anything that helps makes it easier)..takes probably between 5-15 minutes to burn the shields solo that way(sorry no exact time, just haven't got 'time' to keep track of it during the combat ;-) )..after that its easy..juts don't get hit by them or you are done for (1-5 hits and you are dead in the gunship)..
The problem with the regulaar dreadnaughts though is that they rarely come alone, so taking them on in the gunship is dangerous business cause you are super vulnerable if you get hit by their heavy weapons (1 hit is usually enough to make my frontal shield vanish)..and beamweapons...bleh, surefire way to die if they get close enough to use those
at least, that's how it worked when the game was released. didn't fly gunships since... .0001 or .0002 i think
