Good luck Captain and welcome to Gemini!
I dont know if i have rebind my key or not, but the fire at will function si bind to F for me.
Even the best heroes of the galaxy make mistakes.
As mentioned above;
F - Auto Fire on enemies in range (Your crew is manning the guns so to speak)
V - Cycles views - Turret view (Space Bar to cycle lock view or rotation on) is good to get used to flying in so you can rotate around your ship keeping enemies in view and using (where the ship allows) your side and rear weapons and Heavies.
X - Fires Heavy weapons (AI Crew does not fire Heavies (F Key))
M - Is Map key also good for Quick Pause (As game is paused when on Galaxy map)
Having a T-Drive in equipment (When can afford) is a good get out of here tool. Opens map choose a position in range and it jumps you there immediately.
Shield boosters, Use them like candy
On the hologram of your ship on the botton left, You can put your pointer and adjust power to Engines, Weapons, or defenses or a bit of all etc - Handy to get to know and use.
B - Power to engine for faster travel speed from point to point.
When you have a ship with a hanger, utilize the fighter bays, they are pretty handy in some tough fights.
OH and if playing Campaign, at times the ship your in might not be good enough, go off and do some side missions, mining, trading, Ship capping to increase your rank and credits to improve or buy a better ship/weapons.
Safe travels Captains!
Don't forget to save enough to put some weapons on the new frigate.
Enahnce your transporter to have increased capacity.
Make sure you have more troopers than the ship you want to capture.
Get them down to less than 50% health.
Grapple them and start sending over troopers until captured.
For advanced tactics the Engineer has life support sabotage as a skill which will assist in capturing as will the Field Commander perk. There are also officers you can hire that will expand the transporter capacity and your trooper effectiveness as well.
We had a guy who finished the campaign in Taurus. Not sure how he pulled it off, I wouldn't be able to do it, but that proves one thing - Bigger ships are not necessarily better. That why you have the option to store your ships and have a big cargo ship for trading and mining, heavy weapons ship for fast killing, ships with many trooper space for easier capturing and so on... Engineer class with maxed Rift skill and cloaked ship can AOE bunch of enemies before they even realize what's going on... There are many ways to play, but as I said. It's easy to learn, but hard to master. :)
1.use your left hand for keyboard.
2.use your right hand for mouse.
3.Enjoy
And dont forget to open your computer/laptop before play.... ok guy it's joke.

Yes and there is a pretty cool voice pack I grabbed back when the fellow first put it out HCS Voice pack - It has a ton more available now from some renoun actors etc.
