Blueprints..... where does i get them?
Title says it all, and it would be nice if there was some sort of list of what can be built. Thanks

I've collected two so far and got both from derelicts. Since I discovered my affection for salvage bots yesterday (wasn't aware they work already), I used them on the derelicts, so I can't tell whether the blueprints would also have dropped as normal loot or from simply blowing up the derelicts.

I also looked out for blueprints on sale on stations but couldn't find any (looked for them in every available screen).

So far I believe you'll only get them as loot from ships/derelicts. I hope they will be offered at stations occasionally, maybe on the license- or the equipment-screen.

Danijel just stated elsewhere that they plan to give bounties tailor-fit loot, so I guess blueprints will not only show up randomly.

In any case I hope for ways to purchase one from time to time to be able to complete a given set more easily.

The main question to ask would be, do blueprints currently give you access to weapons/spacecrafts/upgrades that you can't buy from stores?

Simple answer is YES :). You can only get some special equipment, weapons etc... IF you have the complete blueprint for the item in question.

@Helmsents
A list. I could compile a list, but where's the fun in that? ;) That said, if you guys really want it, I'll assemble a list and post it :).

@Pendragon
For now blueprint parts CAN be dropped as loot from derelicts and ships. Also, it could happen you get a part by scanning anomalies. This last bit may seem strange, but we plan on making some extra things happen with anomalies, which will make it make sense ;).

Bounties will likely always drop a loot ONCE their loot drop is finalized (so this is not yet the case; for now they have the same chance as any regular ship).

Placing blueprints on sale on stations/planets is problematic only because blueprint parts and complete blueprints are quest items, and we lack that part of the UI to actually sell quest items (since it wasn't intended to be able to sell/buy quest items). I was thinking about some other way of offering blueprints. OnDock - shady character approaches... stuff like that ;).

This is only the beginning actually. (Potentially) Awarding blueprint parts will be linked to many other events (on structures, ships, stations...) so while a single event doesn't have that great of a chance to reward a blueprint, many different events will have it as an option. I hope I'm making some sense :D.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that several special ships are planned, but they're not yet it, so you won't be getting blueprints for them just yet. In time ;).

Well bugger - We demand them NOW!!! "jokes" So look forward to that Danijel :)

As always thanks a lot for the detailed answer, Danijel!

Good to know about the anomalies, gives me a strong incentive to go scanning more of those; and since I've at least got a glimpse of an idea about anomalies from the little I played of SPG1 and from some background stories, I don't find it odd to find blueprints by scanning them...

The special ships sound amazing as well, as does the fact that much of the blueprint stuff will be special and not for purchase anywhere.

So, a heartfelt "Meep" to the entire crew for your exceptional work once again!

Just an update on finding blueprints:

Since yesterday I've found 4 different blueprint sets so far, but never more than one piece of each; 2 sets consist of 5 prints, the other 2 of 10 blueprints.
Seeing that I played about 5 hours since they've been implemented, I feel the chance to find additional prints of the same set seem too low currently.

So far I've got all blueprints from loot/derelicts; scanning anomalies didn't work for me yet, but maybe I was just unlucky.

I'm really looking forward to finally have a set complete and get something assembled.

Excellent! Not that it's taking too long, but the feedback I mean :). Thanks. I'll tweak the numbers!

What happens when you get a blueprint you already have? Does it re-roll which blueprint it is so if a blueprint drops you always get something you didn't have?
MeepdragonVII Aug 10, 2014 @ 8:11am
If so, that would be a problem.
Each blueprint states how many sheets/pieces it consists of, so it would be great if the chances to get an additional piece of a set we have would be at least as high as receiving the first print of a new set.

I wonder, are blueprints somehow linked to a certain lvl range or are all blueprints being dropped entirely randomly?

By the way: Danijel, a nice Sunday to everyone at LGM! So another weekend of polishing your piece of art, right? Impressive display of dedication as always!

Blueprint parts are stacked. Makes sense since you need more than one to complete a set. Completed blueprints are also stacked, because at this moment, when you purchase something a blueprint enables you to purchase, the complete blueprint goes away. It's still opened for debate of course as always :)

@Pendragon
Currently, any blueprint part can be dropped, no restrictions. I do plan to have a look and maybe tie it in to player level, or NPC level that dropped it.

PS Sunday or not... gotta finish this :D, but thank you nonetheless :).

Looks interesting, Have collected a few parts but apparently not enough to see what happens when one comes together yet.

This should make it possible to tailor rewards a bit for hunting specific factions in game, as well as the fun of getting that special goody every now and then.

Hopefully there are plans to let us know how many pieces of the set are required for it's final reward coming along eventually.

Was actually about to just ask if you guys were planning on adding in extra ships this way. Very cool I hope they have stronger variants of existing ship classes (not re-textured ships :p) compared to what you can buy. Always nice to have a ship you can't find anywhere else. Or unless you guys are planning on adding a new class of ships that's always fantastic too ;).

How about a treasure hunt as a side mission? On some ancient derelict we find a map that shows the whereabouts of the pieces of a unique blueprint. Of course others might be interested in such a treasure as well...

@Kyronz: When you look up the blueprints on the Fleet Screen under "Items" (I believe they're there) you can see the # of pieces already in the description.
