Any tips for Mt. Mei secret boss?
Because I am getting my ass ROCKED!

Immobilization - Doesn't work
Veiled Strike - Doesn't work

The game allows you to fight your way for the entire game then puts you in this boss and just wants it to be a street fight. This fight is testing my patience. I put my points in Ring of FIre, but that is such a lame spell. I got him down to around 25% HP left but I was completely out of mana (which is a feat because I have 510 mana and my gourd refills a portion of my mana). I'm using the Yellow Loong summon and Non-Pure for my other summon and I was using the Weaver's Needle.

It's also hard to tell what is an attack and what is just flamboyant flailing around. Sometimes I dodge and there wasn't even an attack and other times I won't dodge and his random flailing actually was an attack.

Giving this guy a guard bar was another annoying part of the fight. Damage is reduced by what, 90% and he regains his guard after 1 solid combo while guard broken.

Such a frustrating fight!

1 : I reset all my points and put most of it into base stats.
2 : I used Wukong's set with The Golden Loong Staff and always in pillar stance. Be careful sitting on the pillar because he will target you with a lot of attacks though.
3 : Maxed Wandering Wight is a huge Shotgun to the face.
4 : Wind Tamer is reliable damage reduction.
5 : Ring of Fire and Cloud Strike (don't stay invis too long).
6 : Dry Spirit with purple veined peach pit and bee mountain stone.
Last : Don't be afraid to use "pills". This is what you save them for.

Other than that just think of losses as reps for your brain to adjust to his very-varied timing, as he's bby far the hardest boss in the game if it's the one I'm thinking of.

Thanks! I beat him about an hour ago.

and if you cant beat him , and need more preparation , there is a good place to farm xp in the spiders area , shattered .... use big rat transformation and explode close to the cocoon, it is around 2600xp in 30 scds

1. You can immobilise Erlang when he lands after phase transition;
2. Use the Fan to break his stance and you can immobilise him during this time too;
3. let the boys out when you use the Fan

And the overall strategy I used:
1. just doge and trade hp with him in phase 1;
2. immobilise him after he transitions, and then trade hp again till phase 3;
3. when phase 3 starts, use the Fan and summon the monkeys, and finally rush on him. remember to use pills, and transformation when necessary

This is absolutely valid and legit strategy. You are supposed to use vessels for chapter bosses to make them manageable. We did it with Black Bear in Chapter 1, I wish I did it with Yellow Wind Sage in Chapter 2 because I spent many attempts trying to and finally defeating him without the vessel and we did the same in Chapter 4 where the needle is supposed to be used when 100 Eye Daoist enters 2nd phase. There is nothing cheese about using the vessel to its fullest and also ensure you can use it as often as possible, ie. equip an armor set that grants you Qi on crit and utilize stance move that grants high amount of critical hit chance.

I know this might not be of much help, but what i did was use Spell Binder (secret Spell from chapter 3). I buffed myself pre-fight with a spirit and curios that increase my Mana then Stamina. After using the spell (which i maxed) I switch to my normal gear.

Gear was: 2 piece gain focus on dodges (helm and legs), increase crit rate on focus use (arm piece), and the loong chest piece (the effect never seems to proct enough time to be useful I suggest something else). Spirit was the 2nd(?) monk (increase crit damage & rate, and attack at cost of mana. Artifact was gold hair pin. curios were 2 of a set that increase damage dealt and reduce damage recived , the third was incease def and deal damage on hit.

Item wise i had the 10 use gourd with increase heal at critical and additional healing after. Items I ended up only using thunder bane immunity. Though i did use the life saving potion as a last resort.

For the fight, I only used smash stance and did my best to dodge and see threw his attacks without over committing (giving my the choice to see though or dodge). dodge into his attacks. always be on the move, and jump when the ax drops.

It ended up with me using all my gourd charges and my life saving drug.

1. use the fan that creates tornadoes, that completely counters him and 2. use the armor that lets you get spirit and vessel Ki back quickly, i forget the name, so that you can get fan recharged fast and use tornadoes on him again... as soon as i did these 2 things i beat him in one try after dying to him i dont know how many times

ppl need to understand that the purpose of plantan fan is not just to remove armor but to give the boss a long stun.

All your frustration would've been fixed if you just speced into Spellbinder, crit, mana, and damage nodes.

You'll love using it for the final chapter of the game too.

It's the first comment of the 2nd page, but I beat this boss. I actually went on to get all the trophies for this game. Thanks for the tips. Hopefully, they are helpful to anyone else who finds this boss!

The Fan and the spiked Ball spirit helped me massively here, as they are very good to break his "shield". Other than that its a game of patience I feel.
