I had a hard time beating him... I ate two of my Dualsense Controller and tried again. That worked :)

Well, for this boss, there is a story behind it.

SPOILER ALERT

In the orginal story, it kicked Wukong's ass so hard. Wukong then have to go to the heaven look for help. And in the end, it's an needle treasure helped him to broke the master's special spell. Something you can use as some kind of hint how to normally defeat him.

you need a special needle

Use the needle to delete the most badly designed part.

Isn't it also bad design that the needle needed to forego the bad design is thoroughly hidden? How do you excuse bad design with even more bad design. I r confuse.

I don't know if I would go so far as to call it "thoroughly hidden," but yes.

I don't know about the book, but in the series, Tong Bei Monkey / Six Eared Macaque is Wu Kong's hardest fight.

No, the hardest fight is with Golden Eagle (Garuda).

Wukong actually lost against the Golden Eagle and even Guanyin lost to him, in fact only Tathagata Buddha can win against him. He's certainly considered the "last boss" of JttW.

He also did lose to his Centipede Daoist too (the boss in this thread), but the Centipede has a certain gimmicks against Wukong.

The needle won't fix the fact that Wukong misses most of his attacks on him because of the terrible hitbox where he can be hit. The trust stance almost never reaches his head with 3 focus points.
Fairy f Aug 25, 2024 @ 9:09am
It's not about the difficulty; I don't find him incredibly difficult. The only difficult part is the bad design. Standing in front of him and missing, or being next to his leg and still missing hits, feels like the hitboxes where he can be hit barely exist. You get an opening for punishment, but nope, you're going to miss 4 out of your 7 attacks. The thrust stance almost never hits him in the head with 3 focus points. That's terrible design. Also, the boss who drops the Needle has the same issue. You can only lock onto his head, but you can only hit him in the legs with light attacks. It's literally nonsense; give me the option to lock onto his leg if I'm going to do that the whole fight, lmao.

Just here to totally agree with you. This Boss Design is so bad. Half of the time you cant hit him and the other half hes invincible for random bs like burrowing into the ground. I mean at least let me punish him if hes running away like a coward in the midst of my attack combo. Apart from that random attack that hits you a 100% of the time, with no chance of dodging...

It's still beatable without the needle, but it ended up taking the longest time for me compared to other bosses atm since we have to memorize all the cheese it has. After beating it, my head began to cool down but then a nerve started to pulsate strongly - hurting my head to point I had to stop playing. I thought I needed to go to a doctor because of this boss. lmao
