tbh venture hero looks so epic to use but the forums make a whole drama about it.

I think people only "get mad" about venture because if anybody says anything other than "they" as venture's pronouns, people flip out.
So most people aren't necessarily mad that they've added a nonbinary character (though it's notable that it's only happening now and not a few years ago, and it is very likely just blizzard trend following in order to placate an absurdly tiny percent of players).
They're mad that they're not allowed to call venture a woman or refer to it as "she" despite that objectively being her biological sex and the pronouns that come with that. They're mad that facts are now offensive, even if they shouldn't be.
Also some people are (ALLEGEDLY) getting banned ingame because people keep reporting for "hate speech." Hell, I'm worried I'll get reported and banned just for this comment and I've very clearly said nothing wrong or offensive.

On a positive note, venture's pretty fun, but from what little we've seen of her she seems kind of bland. But like you, I'll happily take bland over annoying like kiriko.
Her archaeologist background seems unique and apparently it will push forward the main story (whatever that is) which I'm sure most people will like.

I haven't played OW as much as others here but every other hero I can understand (kiriko can be annoying if played right) venture has such a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ playstyle though her whole kit is annoying
