new shop feature
while marvel rivals get all atention and potential new players we get another shop update instead of new content :)
Its 1:1 rip off from league of legends, but much worse.
In lol you got big discounts on skins for characters you often play, meanwhile in overwatch you get them for random heroes and these discounts arent big.

it's ridicilously bad lmao. the saddest part is that this is the only time we've seen Maximilien in lore in YEARS... in ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ shop update

Yeah is a pile of s#!t xD those discounts are a joke.
Not to mention, this new shop feature is literally a Loot Box for COUPONS in the store. It's the actual worst form of Loot Box. Frankly i LIKED the loot boxes in OW1, and thought that it was one of the few acceptable loot boxes. You could get them without paying a cent, and had decent drops (including Legenday) on a decently regular basis, it was a great meta goal incentive versus "Do i work for arbitrary goals that dictate HOW i play, to earn some points, to unlock off a tree that everyone else also is working on, to get the same lame rewards?", heck even the premium section of battlepass sucks, as everyone ends up with the same stuff (mystic coins is slightly less worse than it was at least).

Forget activisim. forget side-ism (This game sucks, my other game rocks!), forget all that nonsense. This is a BAD feature, that tries to drip feed paid content and/or entice those that didn't spend to start spending. It's bloody grooming behaviour. It is wild.

i mean i get the frustration but this is the peak "dont care if it exists, dont care if it does" kind of feature. you can genuinely simply ignore it (unlike the battlepass and lack of progression like the lootbox).
the only true problem is the greedy nature of it; it's the only really "new" thing in this update, and its only purpose is to incentivise direct purchase of items at a seemingly "fair" price.
it fails in a depressing way - other games who do this like VALORANT at least have a reason to (highly valued cosmetics like Knives are really expensive - having them at a cheaper price with more fomo is actually a worthy trade for alot of people) - while Overwatch simply gives you an assortment of random items, lacking bundles, with barely any "deal" attached to them.
they were too greedy in making a predatory system, that they didnt even give it a reason to exist - it's not even a deal you're making - you're getting random skins (mostly epics and under, or worthless legendaries) for a sale that's never over 25%. they didnt even bother lowering the prices, at least for its first introduction, nor give any sought-after skins in it.
they're just selling you the bottom of the barrel and praying a 10% off lures you in, without making any effort or even trying to give you a value proposition.

Sure. Fair statement all around. How "Bad" it is, is up to interpretation. Don't particularly disagree with anything you've said, other than tone of severity. Wrapping an "Event" around a store sale, seems very bad to me. Not just a "You like Avatar? Here are avatar skins!", it's not even that. There are no new skins or collaboration as the event. It's an excuse to have event challanges that people work on, but the event is about the sale. It's... Not really been done in Overwatch before, quite like this. To me, it's concerning. It shows that in desperation, they are not becoming MORE pro-consumer, they becoming less pro-consumer. I have a hard time giving them faith, given the track record as of late. Regardless of my affection for my favorite characters and the good gameplay that still exists in the game

it's hard not to feel despair when you know Overwatch 2 was supposed to start a new franchise, have a massive PvE with tons of content and replayability, and much more...
i disagree with the sentiment that somehow Overwatch 2's release (and following years) were a failure - we did get a bunch of exciting content, we escaped out of Overwatch 1's content drout... but after a few years it feels soooo dry.
i'm a massive fanboy of the franchise and yet even i can't make myself put up with the game when all we're getting are mid heroes that barely change the meta, cosmetic updates and small-tweak balance...
meanwhile Fortnite:

Cheap regional pricing by Epic Store. around 5 usd for a battlepass/1000 vbuck as South East Asian.
