That said, the game is a greedy shadow of what OW1 was.
I can't play a single casual match without either my team or the enemy team ragequitting, and that boils down to the issue that the game is not rewarding. There is no incentive to finish matches because the only thing you get is XP and nobody cares for XP because it doesn't reward you with a free lootbox anymore.
In the last 10 months they released almost 80 shop exclusive skins.
With the prices they set, it would've cost a single player $1500 dollar to own all those skins, and there was no way provided to earn a single one.
That is insane, they do not need $1500 dollar per player in a 20 million playerbase game to keep the game alive. Anyone that say the game needs to price skins $20 per skin or that its not feasable to give at least 10 out of 80 earnable to gameplay, is freakin insane.
If they can't give out more coins, just give out the skins directly by random, like lootboxes.
(and for the sake anyone wants to argue, no:)
LOOTBOXES ARE NOT ILLEGAL.
SELLING lootboxes IS ILLEGAL.
There are hundreds of games that give out randomized rewards for gameplay, its it not illegal or gambling as long its something you earn through the time invested into the game.
The worst part is I can't even blame you. The game is designed to make us feel this way.
I am aware I'm just playing because of FOMO too...
Only good part is, with each season I feel myself care less and less.
I almost didn't finish the Season 5 battlepass.
Also about this, I agree. However I don't understand how Gacha games get away with their gambling. Shouldn't it be illegal? I think Valve gets away with selling keys to open crates because players know the odds of getting something like an Unusual item, and it becomes legal then. I'm not even sure if that's true or not, but that's what I've heard.
Gacha games are illegal in Belgium, and the EU and the UK are working actively to pass laws that would outlaw them too. Technically Lootboxes are not illegal YET, but it is very possible that they will be in the very near future, so many game companies are trying to stay one step ahead and redesign their systems before their games get banned for having lootboxes.
Most Gacha games are of Asian origin however and make most of their income in that market, so its most probable that even if the EU banns these games, most Japanese/Korean/Chinese Gacha games will not change their systems and just cut their european market off.
If the game becomes fun in 6 months time, then pick it up again. You'll know, it'll be all over youtube, etc. If you aren't enjoying it, then don't play it. Seriously, not trying to simp for Overwaifu and I don't champion any corp, especially those that are basically a frat house treating its offices like a brothel, but if the game isn't immediately enjoyable to some degree? Stop playing it. There's no sense in putting emotional weight into a product you do not enjoy. It isn't entitled to your attention, respect, or money.
It's not as if you're starved for choice with multiplayer games, find another. Not because some jerk like me told you to do so, but because you probably work a job, your free time is valuable, and you deserve to enjoy video games that are actually good if you choose to use your free time for them.
We was told to quit WoW:Shadowlands and everyone left and went to FFXIV
We was told to quit Diablo 4 and everyone left and went back to Path of Exile
We is now told to quit OW2 and give TF2 and others a chance
The devs thanks all Blizzard white knights for directing players form thier games to others as people like you give other AAA companies to small indie studios a chance to shine.
