I played the game on battle.net (before season 6) and on steam fine but now it asks me for my phone number. Really blizzard? You want more hate?

You can grab anyone's phone number to Smurf, and each new one can be sold to multiple data firms for a profit.

I can't do that because I am prevented from playing the game. Guess i won't buy skins for my favorite characters, the Battle Pass to earn for playing, and the Story Missions to enjoy more content!!!!

They probably also sell location and hardware data to advertisers.

Everyone does it to some degree, but blizz only requires phone numbers for this reason.

There is no data to suggest this system helps alleviate smurfs and alts.

They just want your number cuz.
