Even 3 euros for a 1 and a half hour game would be a scam. Watching the premiere of Endgame costed me more euros for more hours of value.
I don't care about Team Fortress marketplace (the selling price is lower than the inventory retail price), I prefer scalping Hot Wheels diecast collection.
i do not agree. They rebalanced the whole game. They changed the default skin of every hero, which includes new skins for all Overwatch League teams. They added Mythic-tier skins. They added hero specific progression system, instead of general player level. Their frequency of releasing new heroes, new maps, new skins, new game modes, is higher than ever.
Why do You think they did not make that much money from Overwatch? Because they would work hard, release skins every event, and hardly anyone would buy lootboxes. Why would anyone, when they have dozens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, perhaps even millions of credit, to buy any skin they wanted?
Paying 40 euro (later on 20 euro) once, and then expecting Blizzard to release for You updates, new heroes, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, for decades long, is just not feasible. This system is not sustainable. At the start it was profitable since massive amount of players kept joining, but at some point it decreases to critical levels, and then You can no longer make-do with that one-time purchase anymore
The Battle Pass system provides them with a stable income. For dedicated players, it costs only 2.5 euro per month to buy every Battle Pass. Compared to other pay-to-win games like Dota 2 where You have to pay 4 euro per month for Dota+ to unlock core features such as Avoid Player, Overwatch 2 is not so bad.
There is no excuse for Blizzard cancelling the PvE Hero Mode. They promised it and should've delivered it. Period. But 5 euro for these missions is not expensive, and saying its 15 euro is just not true.
It's not a good value proposition because it is something that was originally free and now made a premium purchase with no value added. Hell, you keep making it worse by stating that it's only worth $5 and to actually make it viable then you also have to purchase 1000 BP points.
In July 2019 they had already made one BILLION dollars from in-game purchases.
They had to change tactic because
- the Chinese government demanded an explanation about the lootbox system. (Blizzard had to divulge that players would only get one epic skin per 13 or so boxes, and that there would be many duplicates)
- many countries in the EU deemed this system too close gambling, and lootboxes were made illegal.
In short, claiming that Blizzard was not making much money is completely wrong.
Also, since their original playerbase had bought the game, they could have given them these 'new' missions for free. It's not like they would go bankrupt by doing this.
(Ubisoft had to do something similar a few years ago.)
Your avatar looks cool dude
Its 5$, not 15$. You get 1000 Overwatch Coins which is worth 10$.
i do not see how any of what You said is remotely linked to the topic. A lot of people were disappointed that the DLC costed 15 euro. i found out that it wasn't, and i thought 5 euro for the missions was pretty cheap.
