Drakefire Pistols, are they good?
So at long last I've finally managed to get a pair of blue Drakefire Pistols for the Dwarf. I've been trying them out and comparing them to the orange Grudge-Raker I was using before. They seem to be decent weapons, the ones I have even have Hail of Doom with a decent proc chance, but so far I'm not sure if they do enough damage to be good weapons, even more so with their lack of accuracy.

So I'm looking for people with more experience with them - how good do you think they are?

Also, what exactly does the charged attack do? Is it a close-ranged attack?

1) I have a pair of these too, but i prefer the shotgun over this since shotgun 1 shot all non-specials in nightmare and also can hit multiple target.

2) Yes it's aoe close range attack and burns ur targets too, for how much exact damage I have no idea but I don't think the burn damage is significant enough to tell a difference.
Since people tend to just kill all rats as fast as possible, leave it burning around you isn't that smart to do haha.

I personally really like the Drakefire Pistols, not only are they stylish, but sence they use an overheat mechanic rather than ammo, you can spam hardcore with them and act like a ghetto, but heavily armored Fireball Bright Wizard should the need arise. This is handy for when your picking off clanrats before they reach your party.

However, one of the best uses for Drakefire pistols is to cover a retreat. Because you don't slow down while firing, or lose much accuracy, you can pick off incomming scavenslaves before you reach the group and slow you down.

And to answer your question, the charge ability is like a shotgun. It has wide area of effect, and can set the scaven on fire, however it heats up the pistols much more than nomal shot, so use this ability wisely.

It basically turns the Dwarf into a Bright Wizard Lite. Lets him take the best melee weapons and still have a solid AoE ranged weapon with practically infinite ammo.

I prefer the shotgun as it deals with hordes pretty effectively, that being said the drakefire pistols are nice due to the infinite ammo deal, and the handgun is good for taking out specials.

The only upside to the drakefire is the aoe and the infinite ammo.

Lite? More like a full BW. The Single Target DMG is really good and the AoE is crazy strong if played right. Add some Shield/Hammer to that combo and we get a Bright Wizard+.

Those pistols save my dwarf bum countless times in tight places where rats were a plenty. Nothing feels great like seeing a rat mob turn into a pile heap of bodies on fire with a mouse click.

Edit: the charged attack basically turns the pistols into a shotgun.

The best part of drake fire pistols is the fact the aoe attack does no team damage. You can spam it several times and clear a whole horde off a fallen team mate without hurting them.

I've got a legendary drakefire pistol, came with 18% knockback chance, 40% reduced spread, and a 4% chance for 30% attack speed increase. These things just wreck everything as I wipe groups out with the charge attack, or whittle their forces down as they charge with rapid accurate shots.

With unlimited ammo, it's great for clearing out all the random strays from range before they become a problem, and they stagger specials with every shot, stunlocking everything except ogres until killed.

I often come out with the more ranged kills than anyone else's total kills. These things are a beast.

They are if they fit your playstyle. I prefer my trusty crossbow to one shot specials, but that AoE from pistols is just amazing ;d

Yeah, after trying it some more, I noticed I wasn't giving them as much credit as I should. Damage isn't too great but it seems that each shot has a small splash radius, besides also being a weapon that is always AP.

And having one with Hail of Doom is pretty awesome :P

I'm still debating whether to use this one or my orange shotgun. Thanks everyone for the input!
