50fps/50hz cap (Unsolved. Please help.)
Playing on a 1080p@60hz monitor, for some reason the game isn't detecting my native resolution and sets it at 1080p@50hz. Any fixes?
All replies are highly appreciated.

Edit: From what I've pinpointed, the game just selects the lowest refresh rate of the monitor. I first played this on a 720p monitor with only 60hz support, it couldn't mess it up on that monitor but on my new monitor it has 50hz, 59hz and 60hz and the game selects 50hz, other users experience 24hz, 30hz and so on.

I've also figured out a way to uncap the FPS and make it reach 60 by configuring vsync from nvidia control panel but since the refresh rate is still capped at 50hz, that 60fps just doesn't feel right.

Is there a way to fix this without installing 3rd party softwares and without messing with crucial stuff? As in most games, it is possible to configure the settings file from game directory. I even found the settings file but it's unreadable through notepad.

Usually, it's just because the game (being a port) does not support such powerful specs, so it just caps them to a certain limit.
On the other hand, some people say that you can go over this limit using a borderless window instead of the fullscreen.

I noticed this after changing the monitor. I used to run this game on a 720p monitor just fine at 60fps. Is it possible to edit the settings file with notepad or something, just edited the refresh rate and the vsync cap it to 60fps?

I highly doubt it comrade. Usually these things are hardcoded in the games.
However, I've heard of a mod for this game that let's you play on high performances.
Don't know the name or if it actually exists tho, I'm not really into mods.

brooo
first, i just want 60fps
second. I am 100% sure it ran at 60fps on my OTHER monitor, I just changed my monitor and started testing some of my installed games and saw this is capped at 50fps because of the 50hz

Uhm, ok? But what it has to do with what I just said?
I told you what you can do. I, myself, can't do anything for "specs related problems" as I don't have such specs in the first place. Wait for someone else if you really can't handle 50 fps. Maybe someone has a better solution, or an actual solution.

Sorry, I'm not being impatient or anything. I'm assuming that you assumed I wanna run it at 240fps or something. 60fps is more than sufficient for me. Honestly it's hard to notice 50fps without the counter on but still, if it could be fixed then all the better.

No problem, I thought I misunderstoof you comrade.
By the way, certainly there is a fix out there (as I stated) but is it really worth the weight? -10 fps, as you said, are barely noticeable. Just play the game before editing important files and stuff.

Changing the vsync values from nvidia control panel seemed to unlock the fps, I'm able to hit 60 now but the refresh rate is the problem, that 60fps doesn't feel "as it should" on 50hz. The game is just detecting a different resolution dude. I can see from my monitor UI, it says 1080p@50hz. I think I just need to find a way to force my native resolution on it properly. This is really weird, why would it detect a resolution like that with lower refreshrate?

Can this even be fixed? I can't get a refund now, I bought it on a sale about a month ago and have over 2 hours of playtime.

Comrade, I have no idea. You can check this thing[steamah.com] someone previously suggested.
I'm still keen on the idea that the game shouldn't even be able to reach 60 FPS normally (I mean, some people say that the cap is broken, and sometimes it doesn't work) without causing problems.

But even then (I hate to be repetitive) is it THAT much of a deal? People sometimes can't even PLAY this game in the first place because of porting issues or corrupted files.
You are not looking for a FIX, you are obsessed with the fact that you can't use your super hardware accessories on a porting of a 2013 game.
Is like expecting controller compatibility for, dunno, Sam and Max: Hit on the Road (yeah maybe I could have given a better example but you get the point, hopefully).

Just remove the FPS counter on the screen and maybe you'll make yourself a good placebo effect comrade.

Dude, I'm using an i5 3470 paired with a single fan 1050ti and I play most of highend games at 30-45fps at optimized settings. I'm not obsessed, it's just troubling me and of course it will trouble me to know an old game runs like this for me and most importantly that it USED TO run at 60 because older monitor didn't support below 60hz, now it's capped at 50 because of terrible settings config I can't access.

Okay I WOULD admit that it's an old port and can't hit 60fps but it's not the case at all. It's a case of terrible config, the game is selecting the lowest refresh rate by it's own. I've played other terrible ports well and fully accepted the fact it's not my hardware, the game is just badly ported. Witcher 1, Call of Juarez, La Noire.

I've seen this but didn't fully understand it. What are the steps? Do I have to run it everytime? Does it keep running in the background?
Mr. September Jan 2, 2022 @ 9:20am
You have to run it every time BEFORE you launch the game as far as I'm aware. You just set it to 60 hz (anything above doesn't seem to work, at least for me and for this game).

I don't know if it can cause issues for other games so I recommend keeping the "Restore on Close" option ticked so it disables when you close it. Make sure you close it when switching games just in case as well.

Jesus Christ, I'm never buying old games again without doing background checks, especially Japanese games.
