Demo Patch 4: Mighty Totems

Hello Keepers,

We're excited to unveil our latest addition to the game! In this latest patch, we are introducing the Totem System, accessible through the all-new Totem Shop.

The Totem Shop will make its debut on Day 4 and will appear every 3 days thereafter, giving players the opportunity to purchase these powerful artefacts. Each totem will grant powerful buffs that will enrich and diversify your gameplay strategies. We're unleashing the first 20 totems with the initial release, providing ample opportunity for experimentation and strategic innovation.

This update not only adds a new level of excitement to the game, but also greatly enhances its replayability. Existing players will be drawn back into the game with new opportunities to explore the possibilities unlocked by these totems.

As we move towards the full release, we're committed to enriching the demo experience with additional content. However, please be aware that future patches may take a little longer as we focus our efforts on creating an expansive and immersive full release.

Local Coop Broken?

I have been attempting to try local coop with my partner but we have been unable to get both of us to join? We are bummed we cannot make it work, the game looks like fun! If anyone has suggestions to help us please let me know!

Demo Patch 3: Practice Mode and more

Hello Keepers,

we understand that it can be frustrating to get a new weapon and have to try out an element for the very first time, risking a good run and losing because you didn’t know how it works. Therefore, this patch focuses on the new element onboarding experience and adds a practice mode!

In addition to that, we’re working on content for the full release. Some of it will also find its way into the demo. Prepare for the Endless Replayability Fest starting on May 13th :)

Features

Added a practice mode. You can use it to practice new weapons and furniture and to program these smart grabbers without any pressure from incoming enemies
The recipe info bar now displays the new recipe when targeting weapon upgrades in the shop

Onboarding

An additional tutorial goal is added to assist with the first night
The recipe info bar no longer has a default setting. Instead, it tells you how to use it
Clears the tutorial workbench indicator for firebugs after destroying all four crystals
When you buy a new element for the first time, you have to go to a guided practice mode before you can start a “real” night. This gives the opportunity to learn how it works with the new elements and ammunition.

Fixes

Fixed race condition that caused night to stop too early in rare cases
Fixed an issue causing air cannons to cause less damage
Fixed potential crashes

Demo Patch 2: Better Tutorial

Hello Keepers!

the last two weeks were extremely exciting for us: Hundreds of new players tried the Keep Keepers demo since our demo release day! Although we improved the game a lot during our internal playtest beforehand, we got A LOT of additional feedback. If you learned about Keep Keepers through a Youtuber or Streamer → they also help us understand what to change in future patches: So please keep supporting them :)

In this patch, we have focused on bugs and crashes, as well as our onboarding experience.
While we probably haven't fixed all the crashes, and we still have a few ideas for improvements to the process, this patch should be a big step in the right direction. The next patch will address the learning experience after the tutorial.

If you have further feedback or ideas, please let us know.

Graphics

Replaced tool and weapon outlines
Placeables are no longer drawn over the keep walls
Screen outlines now scale with screen resolution

Polishment

Dangerous belaborations get indicated much more clearly now
Reduced the air weapon sound effect volume
Workbenches now ask for items that can be crafted
All furniture now asks for items that can be combined
Smelter needs a bit longer to create hot iron ingots
Smelters ask to remove hot cannonballs first, even if they need wood
Waterbowls will now ask for hot iron ingots if you carry one
You can no longer take small items out of the bin during the day. They will still be stored for the next night or until you put something else in the bin

Tutorial

Initial cannon and all bought weapons are fully loaded
Added an additional first goal to introduce the recipe info bar and hint at an upcoming attack
Hides sell station at the beginning to avoid confusing new players
Well spawns together with trees to avoid confusion with water in the first half of the tutorial
The cannon also costs 40 gold in the tutorial and there are now four crystals
The bomb indicator encourages new players to hit multiple crystals at once
Hints explaining smelter & cannon loads will now ALWAYS appear during the tutorial when reloading with pre-existing loads
Trees no longer glow after cutting the first tree
Relevant doors in the tutorial will introduce themselves by shaking
Fixed tutorial goal header “You don’t get any weapons for free” ⇒ “You don’t get your first weapon for free”. Actually, right after the tutorial, the initial weapon, is free
Added missing X-diamond thought bubbles
Initial cannon and bin are highlighted after coming out of the tutorial to show that they exist.
Reduced respawn timer in tutorial to 8 seconds

Fixes

Fixed conflict between tip of the day (totd) and hints: totd is skipped if hint is currently visible
Fixed shock damage not applying damage sometimes
Fixed potential crashes related to item indicators
Fixed shop tooltips not always displayed
Fixed element upgrades not being saved when placed in the keep
Fixed a bug that caused the mouse to be shown after pressing restart
Fixed a bug that prevented the B button on the controller from closing the invite players screen
Fixed a bug that sometimes made games unjoinable after loading a save game
Fixed cooling down iron ingot belaboration - it’s not indicated as “dangerous” anymore
Fixed water colliders near bridge to prevent players from walking on water
Fixed client player being able to pickup two items
Fixed several potential crashes

Demo Feedback

Hallöchen :) Ich wollte nur mal eben ein kleines Feedback hier lassen und euch wissen lassen, dass ihr an nem echt coolen Coop titel dran seid :) Wir haben es letztens zu dritt gespielt und es hat echt Laune gemacht. Durch Erfahrung mit Overcooked, PlateUp und diversen tower defense Spielen, war es sehr easy für uns in die Steuerung einzutauchen (alle am Controller). Das Spiel macht durchaus Spaß und wir freuen uns auf den Release. Habt ihr schon überlegt ob ihr mit einem Early Access Stand rausgehen ...

Stuck on welcome screen

Hey guys, unfortunately I am stuck on the welcome screen which I should be able to skip with Space/A. Nothing is working, the welcome window stays in the foreground, even if I click the feedback-icon in the top right. Any idea how to fix this?
