To add to BlackWater's advice, try to make a mental note when you shoot a sniper and try to remember to pull the towers down with your harpoon grapple fairly soon after, so you can loot the bodies.
But also Spoiler you can find and craft an upgrade at Jeet's Stronghold that refills all your ammo when you return to base. Once you get that, finding ammo is no longer an issue.
Think thats a determined by the type of ammo pouch you carry, always the first thing I upgrade, nothing I hate more than fininding ammo I can't carry.
You can take out most snipers (including all snipers that are not part of a camp) by hitting them with the harpoon and dragging them out of their tower to get their loot.
If you want to save on shotgun ammo most insignias that are two high to melee break can be destroyed by dropping a lit gas can under them instead of shooting them.
