The profiles are on the left, while all the save games inside the selected one are on the right. Whenever you create a new game it creates a profile to go with it, and then whenever you save the game it goes into that folder. I think it's a much better system than just having all the saves in one giant list. If you're like myself and keep all your old saves, then it becomes a little unwieldy.
It would be a bit difficult to implement it into a game that doesn't already have it though. For example, you'd have to figure out how to organize existing saves, or allow it to be done by the user. Might be a lot of effort for the devs, for something that isn't really needed. But it would be nice.
The game could easily detect all the different games and automatically create the profiles for the existing games.
The date is the start date of the new game or new import.
Convenient for save scumming, but i'd debate a "must".
Kenshi is one of those games that more times than not is best played without reloading when something happens that you don't like. I'd go so far as to say a single forced frequent autosave is a "must" just as much as profile saves. Ironman all the way.
But that preference differs from person to person. If you have hundreds of different savegames of the same savegame, that's a choice of your own. Not something I do though. Profiles would useless in my own case.
He's not saying he has multiple saves of one game. He his saying he has multiple different games within Kenshi. Completely different groups and characters. When he plays one group of characters, he's worried he will save over another group. That is the issue he's having.
It's simply a matter of convenience. If I want to play some save from several months back, it can be a pain to look through a large set of saves. Especially if you're not entirely sure what exactly you named it, or when exactly you last played it.
Only good argument against it as far as I can tell, is the difficulty and time the devs might have to put into it. Just simply allows better organization of savegames.
Yeah Lum is off topic but he is a mod so np i can forgive him. ;)
In life and at times you can be distracted, and when you ofently pass from a group to another you may overwrite on the wrong save. group-1 become group-2 as well, good bye group-1
Not off topic at all. You posted a suggestion saying profile saves should be mandatory. I disagreed.
Don't get me wrong. i'm not in opposition to the suggestion itself. It has it's own reasons. Both to aid the player in not saving over their savegame, or to allow it easier to organize many different saves. I'm just saying that it is not necessarily "mandatory".
i am playing divinity oriiginal sin and the problem is the same for this game, seriously the profiles thing should be in any game.
in DOS i am playing several games at once too and here to i am at time almost about to overwrite another game.
i am one of those players who are unable to stay focused on the same game for too long so i am moving from one to another the same day.
