overheating gpu and cpu causing blue screen
im running all other games just fine but since downloading kenshi recently to check out the progress its been overheating my pc after around 20 mins of play but other games are running just fine, did the requirements change or something? it was working fine the last time i played a few months or so back :(

Just to add my rig is not overclocked and cooling is def not an issue and yes i check for dust regularly :P
it is def only kenshi that is doing this so for the mo its an uninstall again.

requirements have changed, they went up for the DX11 version. also the game is not fully optimized.
Most over heating issues are because of hardware being older or your using a laptop. or both.

Information on your rig might help since we have no idea what your system specs are.

Bit unfair to raise system requirements after we've paid tbh and by the looks of the store page i still meet them anyway so im guessing wait for update and see what happens....

Your good on that

this could be an issue for the Dx11 x64 version. especially with video settings set on high
also the Dx11 x64 version is known to be unstable. change to the dx9 version and see if that helps.
My video card is 2 generations ahead of yours and even i don't play at max video settings. more like medium to low.

Also set your video settings to a lower level. and keep populations at default level 1

Not really, while a game is in development, system requirements are subject to change. and current requirements where just a general guess.

also make sure your drivers are up-to date.

amd cpu's are poopy and your gpu is extra poopy:steamfacepalm::steamhappy:

Which "other games" are you playing? Also please observe the temperatures while playing and tell us. If you really get a BSOD because of overheating, then it most likely IS because there's something wrong with your cooling.

You could check with Prime95 and Furmark whether it really is because of overheating. Your CPU and GPU will run at 100%, so you can let it run for a while. And again, please watch your temperatures.

currently playing the forest with no problems (not sure why that game appeals to me but it does).

Its def overheating its damn hot to the touch when kenshi finishes with it also i read back a few topics and im not the only person with this problem.
I dont overheat with anything else only kenshi.
you need software to get actual temp readings. your hand will not surfice. as mine usually runs at 30 to 50c. this is hot to the human skin.
a CPU can operate with proper ventilation up-to 70c past that is dangerous over heating.

overheating is also a issue with people who have low end computers. or sub par parts. like your video card. this can add extra pressure on your computer which can cause it to work harder making it heat up more.

and the forest is not the same as Kenshi. comparing the two doesnt help as requirements on the computer are different.

Just gonna chime in here and say that the Forest is running on Dx9 (pretty sure it is since it is the recommended requirement and there doesnt seem to be an option to change it). Might want to try playing Kenshi in Dx9 and see if it makes a difference. HWmonitor is a good program for keeping track of CPU and GPU temps and usage, its what I use.

Use proper program like HWmonitor ( the guy up there beats me to it) rather than your hands. I do agree that this game run much hotter than many other games . I can run Rome 2 without needing additional coolpad but Kenshi can fry a side of my lap if left unsupported of additional means of cooling . This happens a lot with early access game ( 7d2d also has heating problem alike Kenshi) imo . Cheers :Dossenus:
P/s: Yes i have ♥♥♥♥♥♥ lap . It is a vostro which already proned to overheating >.<

could also cap your FPS in the hardware profile. I seem to recall having heating issues awhile ago since FPS would sometimes shoot into the thousands and then the whole PC would crash due to the video card shutting down unexpectedly. After capping Kenshi to a max of 60 fps in the hardware profile thingy, it hasn't done it since.

Ouch, this video card is very very very weak.
Your score on passmark is only 1500..
http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=GeForce+GTS+450&id=

My old video card score was 3000 almost not enough for Kenshi.
BrokenBeard Oct 27, 2015 @ 4:04am
GTS 450 is not really weak , kinda decent. I can even play Kenshi with a hd4670 XD
Drakken Oct 27, 2015 @ 4:17am
Not weak with a passmark of 1500?

GeForce GTS 450
With 192 CUDA cores and 1GB of memory ,the GeForce GTS 450 provides great performance in the latest games like Starcraft 2 and Civilization 5. Starting at just $129 (MSRP), PC gaming has never been more accessible.

For me this is a worthless crap.
I like the "great performances in latest games like Starcraft2" haha

This is also a point to be made. Make sure v-sync is enabled, as Kenshi does not have a framerate cap, so it can potentially overwork your system just by that alone. A simple white page could overheat your card/cpu if no throttling is present. This means that games like The Forest, which could on the surface seem to be requireing more effort on your gcard could potentially not actually be working your card as much as something simpler like kenshi, simply because it cannot obtain such high framerates. It's strange, but a reality.

"provides great performance in the latest games like Starcraft 2 and Civilization 5" It was a while ago , 4-5 years when the 400 series is still the spearhead of Nvidia . I'm not much into hardware stuff and the best card i got was a 460 from evga and now it even worse with HD 7670m XD . That's why gts 450 to me is decent.

That's new O.o . Gonna try it right away.
