NPCs cannot even afford a piece of meat
I filled my shop counter with full of dried meat, because I slaughter bulls all the day. But when NPCs visit my base, they don't buy meat because they can't afford them. I understand they can't afford a high-quality armor, but a piece of meat? How poor are they?

BTW, can I giveaway my meat to starving bandits? Like a donation or something.

It's most likely not on their list of things that they will buy.
Shopping NPCs have shopping lists of what they will try to buy.

NPCs in the vanilla game are flat broke. There are mods that attempt to address this problem.

Starving bandits will occasionally approach and "threaten" your squad, and during this exchange you have the option to give them food. I don't know of any way to donate at will.

You can always give them a good old *THUNK* and put some in their inventory while they're unconscious haha. But it would be cool if you could just offer them some without being threatened or having to knock them out; I might be more inclined to sympathize with them in that case.

Sadly, instead of food, they will only ask nicely for money. For food they will rob you.

There's no function for handing over items in dialogue, hence why you can't do that with hungry bandits. Which is a shame, as this completely scuppered some plans I had for making a custom faction that would send tax raids that required specific items rather than money ;_;
