Kenshi is a game onto its own. it doesnt really fit in with any other games out there.
there is a Demo listed on the store page. try that, its the full game but with some limits.
Getting the demo is the easiest way to check it out.
Yes, it is known that the game has some issues like performance.
What are the limits? If you have energy to tl;dr the differences.
I'm just curious.
Last time I played with the demo you could not get women, skillcap to 20 and cannot use mods.
@stvlepore Rimworld come closest, but where Rimworld focuses on your base building, Kenshi focuses on adventures you do with your people. So Kenshi has actual fighting techniques and mechanisms to allow fe. sneaking. Where building bases is from prefaps, you build the entire house and cannot design your own house plan with rooms, floor and wall materials. In vanilla there is also very limited selection of furniture you can decorate with.
Kenshi also has a bit of a learning curve at the beginning before you can actually survive... Do not get attached on your first character (if you do not want to save-scum that is)
Okay, thanks!
Try installing all 4 files in the dependencies folder. Never heard of someone with the demo getting this bug, but it is somewhat common on Steam, so it's possible it happens on other versions too.
Kenshi save files can reach the GB range. ( this is a known unfixable issue )
But you can combat this in the main game by importing your save often as it clears out history of what you have done in game. ( aka like a fresh new start )
Downside to importing, is if your holding prisoners, they will disappear. will reset world states.
I save my Kenshi playthrough with a simple time title manually, got into the habit now so if anything happens I only lose around 20m or so.
Then when I stop playing for the session I save a proper named title usually of what I am going to do next as I might not play for a few months so need a reminder lol.
Then I delete all but the last 2 saves in the save folder. That keeps the total save files low on memory use - I got plenty of space anyway but just like keeping it trimmed down.
