How to disable nobles randomly attacking?
Just lost an hour of progress because some noble decided he didn't like the sight of my pack bull parked outside my building. Attempting to heal someone the guards are trying to kill counts as a hostile action so I spent several mega-frustrating minutes trying to herd cats because everyone wanted to dash out and get attacked too.

Empire cities are nice since they have a lot of shops but I can't continue by base in Stoat if I'm going to get randomly attacked and the whole squad wiped and sold into slavery on a regular basis. Is there a mod that disables this behaviour?

Get around 50 relations with UC and the nobles won't bother you. Otherwise that's the whole point of UC cities, good economic opportunities but nobles have the right to crap on you whenever they want.

You can gain relations via healing important UC NPCs (slow and unreliable,) turning in bounties, and good ol fashioned bribery.

Nobles won't attack inside or close to the actual cities belonging to the UC, same as manhunters and slave hunters. Allying the UC will stop nobles attacking full stop.

I got attacked inside Stoat. A noble walked too close to my pack bull outside one of my buildings and his guards attacked because the bull didn't "make way for the noble".

I don't think that getting half of your squad killed/captured and the other half forced to permanently flee (bounties) from your in-city base because of a chance random encounter is a good game mechanic. It pointlessly punishes the player.

"And *poof* 10 hours of playtime and your base is now gone. Better luck next time."

Is there a mod that people use or a file that can be deleted that stops this?

I don't know how to tell you this but eh... maybe you built your base too early (like a lot of other players here)? But I recall seeing you on this forum a lot and you sounded quite knowledgeable about this game so the fact that a simple noble party can whop yo rear is actually a bit shocking to me, really. No offense.

By the time I usually start building in upper right corner UC territories I will go hunt the roaming nobles for their high class crossbow

it sounds like there was no base. it was a house purchased within the city of Stoat.

I don't know how you can get out of this outside booking it out of town, but maybe you can avoid it by having someone pick up your pack bull, carrying it inside your home, and placing it down on the ground? They can stand indoors, they just can't get through the door themselves. Could be worth trying if you have any autosaves from before the incident.

Otherwise the best option i can think is to try and get someone to sneak away and hide while the fighting is happening, get out of the city if possible. at least then you'd have someone left over to pick up the peices.

Sorry OP, my mistake. Like someone said they should never attacked anyone near or inside a town, maybe some sort of glitch? Importing will remove the nobles for sure.

It's standard behaviour for in-town nobles. I've had it happen on three playthroughs so far. They seem to take great offence to stinky smelly pack animals in their presence. The funniest indecent was in Heng I think. With one of the bars you have to run past the noble house. Usually not a problem in Heng since the noble likes to hide in his hole for 90% of the time. My squad ran to the bar on that rare time the noble was out and standing outside his house and he was all "Ewwwwww! Stinky animals! Guards! Guards!". I had to abandon my Heng in-town base too.
the make way gives them reason to attack. so you are not fully safe in a city as well with a noble about.
only way to stop them is to ally with the UC

You can avoid it by simply moving out of the way. They only trigger attacks on characters not running, and they give you at minimum two warnings before attacking. So it shouldn't be too much of an issue unless completely ignore the dialog.

But hey, it's a super easy mod, so here:

I've abandoned that run (too frustrating so save) and re-started in the friendly and wholesome Holy Nation. The United Cities nobles will stop harassing my squad if they're nailed to a cross and their cities are raised to the ground.

EDIT

THANK YOU!
Still going to exterminate the nobles though.

Learned something today, now I cannot wait to try to trigger this event in UC town so that I could attack them in self defense lol : )

Save more frequently and keep multiple saves.
Best advice for a lot of games.

Good choice, they deserve it.

I got attacked by one in a city. Said make way, I didnt and death followed shortly after. Might very likely be from a mod but seems like it also fits the theme of base game.
