i use them myself.
i like the weapon. even more so when i do solo play.
Oddly enough only a few weeks ago it was being contested that the large/heavy two handers were Underpowered and pratically useless.
Notice the weight of the weapon. Notice the strength required to effectively wield it. Something that heavy with that much power behind it isn't gonna stop just because a human body got in the way. And some of those blows could be grazing, but they're still going to feel the force. And did you notice the description of the Heavy Weapons skill? Those who become adept at the use of heavy weapons, let alone mastery, are extremely formidable warriors, beings to be feared, and for good reason. They're tougher from all the hits they took just trying to swing the damn thing at the start. They're stronger from lugging it around and swinging it in combat. OF COURSE they're going to have enough power to slay 10 men. That also sounds like a good wasteland story to me.
OP, you can edit the weapon stats in the FCS. There are plenty of tutorials and people willing to help. You can tune it to your liking. This game is Dune meets Feudal Japan. OF COURSE it's unrealistic... and we love it.
On your point of animals being the only thing needing AoE, you are somewhat correct. Leviathans have that, and for good reason. As for Beak Things and Bulls, they attack one thing at once with a very focused strike. There is no AoE on a peck or a headbutt.
Negative. What ruins it for me is when I have 20 men in my squad that match a paladin in skill. 20 vs. 1 all of equal skill should not end in 200 damage to the paladin but 1000 overall damage to my squad. And no matter how skilled the wielder is if a blade passes through one man in full plate and hits the six behind him in full plate would that not mean the first five were cut clean in half? Explain how his rusty plank breaks the laws of physics. I can see this happening to twig limbed frogmen not full plate heavy troops. I guess what im saying is I want to see mass and armor reduce the effect of the aoe or perhaps a very high rate of damaage drop off each time the aoe passes through armor. maybe 100% first guy in plate 20% 2nd 4% 3rd ect...
I've owned this game since day one and this game is tough. I played for hours on end and lose everytime, glitch, lag, lose saves, get unlucky at every turn etc etc. Years later and I'm back and this is the best I've ever done and without any cheats, mods etc. I wanted to appreciate and earn my way. Really tough but when you get to the top or even 10 steps from it you become pretty OP and if your men of 20 are getting slain by a massive heavy then take a different approach with ranged weaponry and a couple guys to distract or what not, definitely more than one way to skin a cat.
I just want to say, while reading the "And no matter how skilled the wielder is if a blade passes through one man in full plate and hits the six behind him in full plate would that not mean the first five were cut clean in half? Explain how his rusty plank breaks the laws of physics. I can see this happening to twig limbed frogmen not full plate heavy troops." a image of Golden Age Berserk Guts popped into my head doing exactly that, and considering how much he has trained, -- similar to the intense training that our Kenshi characters go through-- it could be realistically possible to cut through armor, even heavy plated, if you have a insanse amount of strength stats, and weapon stats, attack stats, and dexterity (affects weapon's speed in the game).
