Research bench?
So I'm a bit confused. I have tried to look up where I can buy or build my first research bench. There was supposed to be a blueprint for it but I have only been able to find the advanced versions of those so far. I have been looking under the research tab but haven't been able to find anything.

It's probably right under my nose somewhere but I can't find it. Can anyone help me out?

You should be able to build it by default. It's in the construction menu accessed via the little button with tools on it, over on the right hand side. :)

I know this post is old but i had the same problem so, if you have downloaded the torso mod, here is how you repair it:

SOLUTION:

Once you started your game as a torso, you dont need the torso mod anymore so save your game, exit the game, uninstall the torso mod, when in the menu, you will click on import game, select the game. Now, you want to uncheck research then import your game. Check in your building menu, everything should be back to normal. :)

To my own modding experience, that happens is the modmaker forgets to add "default research".
(Didn't check the mod in FCS)

You don't even need to unsub the mod, import with techresearch is enough.

Yep, it's not obvious that adding starting tech disables the default tech list. So many authors overlook it, causing issues like this.

Thought its rather that the default tech is a tech in itself, so it doesn't make it to the list, rather than beeing removed.

As in any new start that gets made must get the default tech manually added.

Nope, without any tech assigned the player is still given the default tech. But assigning one acts as an override to the default instead of an addition.

I accidentally Right Clicked on a research instead of left clicking and it said it used the books but it didn't research it
any ideas as to what I just did?

The first part of researching a tech is to put the books/items needed into the bench and use them to "pay" for the tech, which puts it in the queue to be researched.
Then your science toon must spend time there researching it.
