somewhere in this forum or the other, someone worked out how to do that.
or start a new game.
It'll bring up a window of data to edit. Just click "Done." This window doesn't matter. Now you might see a window of errors. Again, close it. This window doesn't matter.
Click on "Open Any" in the top right.
Go to saves and find the save you want to edit.
Open the quick.save file. Not your quicksave folder, but the file in the folder of the save you chose. This can be the quicksave folder, but I don't want you to get confused over the two.
Once you open this file you will see a bunch of zeros. Scroll down until you find the faction you want to change relations with. For example, The Holy Nation.
Find their entry, they're in alphabetical order. Click on them, and their file will open up. Look for "relation0" that's you. -100 is negative, 0 is neutral, and 100 is allied. Of course you can use any number in between.
When you have edited the relations, click the save button in the top left and exit out. You are NOT creating a mod. You are simply editing a save file.
Also, while you're here, you can edit your characters as well. If you want to do so, when you click "Open Any" instead of quick.save, click on the "platoon" folder, and find "nameless_(number).platoon." There may be more than one depending on how many characters you have.
Click on the platoon and scroll to the bottom for your characters. Each character will have two entries. One for their appearance and one for their skills. Adjust accordingly. Once again, save your changes with the save icon at the top right. And once again, again, you are NOT creating a mod. Just editing saves. If you're making a mod, you're doing it wrong.
Enjoy.

Just thought I might add. If you want to keep your characters from another save, and an import doesn't work for you, you can use this method to get them into a fresh game.
For example: when beta came out, many people had issues when they imported their old squad. What I did was simple. I saved all the .bod files at a plastic surgeon, then started a new game. To avoid creating a mod, I recruited enough characters to match the characters I had in my previous save.
Once I had the required amount of people, I use the method I just typed up to recreate my squad. I ported the .bod files over, and adjusted their skills to match what they had been in the alpha state of the game. I avoided all the issues of an import, and retained my squad without any issues. This is helpful if you ever get a corrupted save, or an import doesn't work as intended after a large update.

least until Diplomacy update is added that will allow people to fix relations again in game.
New steps are more like this:

Uninstall when finished fixing your relations because it's an older mod that may not be compat in many ways, plus it also adds a tonne of NPCs that are mostly useless other than for patching relations.
It does not handle animal factions sadly..
Experimental I assume...
Do THOSE guys work on Animal factions? I'm seriously sick of being chased by Garru everywhere I go.
I'll have to re-check the pacifier dialogue in game again because they had nothing to say to me when they were originally added, besides ""finished buisness for the day, come see me tomorrrow"" or something to that effect.
Yup,on experimental.Don't think there'll be pacifiers to handle animal factions.
For now yes, experimental only.
And no, they don't. But I don't expect there ever will be a way to improve relations with animal factions without mods or savegame editing. Simply because there should be no way to lose them anymore.
I could probably easily make a mod with pacifiers for the animal factions for those affected previously, as they appear to have made the pacifier dialog in way that it's easy to port to other factions. But that would obviously require using a mod, even if only temporarily.
There was a bug with certain ones that were checking the wrong faction relations. Nat said that it was fixed, but I'm not sure if the fix was pushed to the live build yet. But the others should be working fine. :)
All I got out of this was that you were going to give us talking Garrus and Beak Things. Make it happen Shidan.
Simply because there should be no way to lose them anymore.
Does this mean that Garru, in stock game, would no longer attack or chase me?
And that random Murder Goats won't Land of Fire and Ice syle cross mountains to attack?
Assuming you made a new game, yes. Animals have had their faction importance set to 0, so attacking them no longer lowers relations with their faction.
It just doesn't help anyone who was already hostile with them.
Not how it would be unfortunately. They'd be humanoids that are allied with Garrus and Beak Things.
