cause with this nonsense, i would just edit 400 ancient science books and be done with it.
I'm all for things being hard to obtain, but i don't like the idea of importing the game over and over.
The way I play it is don't import to get more books. But import after updates and the like (you should always do this anyway). Every now and then I'll end up relooting ruins and such that have restocked after the imports. Over time this netted me way more than enough books to finish everything.
To be fair though, I'v enever made completing research a primary objective. It has always been a side thing for me.
Edit: No, you cannot cheat them in without a mod. There's no method for spawning items or anything. But if you're gonna cheat them, why not just import? Looting the whole map should give you a few hundred, just loot the whole map and THEN import. Once would probably be enough to get enough books to do everything.
You only have to do that now since not all the spawn location's are available yet
I'm just a bit annoyed that these books are so hard to obtain, as i'm trying to play the game without tricks.
I started with 1 single guy (greenlander) with 0 on me and some hunger :D, worked my way to getting 9 sheks, so i have a total of 10 men, 2 houses in Squin, doing research.
Wanted to get the Weaponsmith building II to produce Katanas of Standard quality (catun 1) *
(which i decided is gonna be my standard weapon)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Initially i was kinda annoyed with not finding backpacks, but then i relaxed and just played the game, and in a Techhunter outpost (close to Squin), they sell the: trader wooden backpack/wooden backpack (same thing?) and scavenger baskets. I was ecstatic when i finally got them :D
Got my 10 men with wooden sandals for speed (stole most from bandits, and produced the rest)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*so i went on a trip up north, got attacked by an iron spider! injured men... some guys limping but i managed to pull through, now i'm low on food and money feeling kinda desperate, i have enough to buy the 3 ancient books, but it's gonna be a close call to return to Squin without much food hehe :D
1 human and 9 desperate and hungry Sheks :P
Anyway guys thanks for helping out
My current game i got 23 people living off the land that way as i hunt for the acb and ai cores
This is my first try at the game, if i knew what i know now.. i would probably have started with 5 robots, it's a massive advantage to just explore non stop without worrying about food :)
Oh by the way ,i also have a rule (for my current game). No stealing allowed. Everything is gonna be obtained the hard way. (Plus, i would HATE to antagonize traders, like i heard some people say that traders refuse to talk to them cause they stole)
There's 1 thing which makes me sad though.... Robots cannot use helmets.... i mean...
Robots with an Iron hat, would be SO amazing! (and dustcoat or some kind of overcoat) :)
Did any of you saw the Samurai Jack episode: "Ultra Robots" ? Robots there have a kind of Straw hat/vietnamese/iron hat kind of thing going on :D
(this is getting seriously offtopic :D)
