Yes I have read that one. It does not answer the question is the File Creation Date really 5/19/2021? I am trying to find out a way to fix walls that are inside buildings now. Appreciate your attempt :)
Odds are that wall is normally there in vanilla. If you feel so inclined to fix it with the editor, you should make a new mod file first, then save your changes to it afterward.
I finally just deleted it and validated, it came back with todays date, so I feel pretty sure it is original now.
Thanks for the responses.
You took initiative to spend time to answer and it was appreciated. It does appear it is required as Kenshi crashed when I deleted it. Love the Steam ability to reacquire individual files.
Still sad to see the game has so many issues that need attention and yet Lo-Fi is only fixing bugs. Not sure I will buy Kenshi 2 unless they do better with the polish rag.
And yes Newworld.mod contain all the assets for the newer half of the map, the people, the dialogue etc. Deleting that you delete half the game.
This is mostly due to the games engine. its not from a lack of trying by the Devs. but the game engine itself has reached its end. its old, custom built, single threaded, and maxed out on what can be added.
upgrading it to a new modern engine would require at least 6 years. it would also be pointless to fix bugs during that time to if they do it.
this is why they are making Kenshi 2. its on a modern Unreal 4(5?) engine. more possibilities, it has multithreading capability. and a lot more options.
Kenshi 1 Engine is a two decade old engine. and it shows. it is also doing what no engine is really made to do.
So the Devs fix what they can. other things, well they cant be fixed. not with out ripping out all the code and redoing it onto Unreal.
If you, as a gamer and person, require polish bordering on perfection in your life, then indie game scene is perhaps not what you should be playing. Threatening to not buy the next game based on your expectations sounds very petty, bordering on entitled.
its like i said, there are some things that cant be fixed due to the engine. hauling used to take everything it could. but it clogged the inventory. that's how the game engine works. its also why its at the values it is now, to prevent clogging.
once your people get trained enough, they move rather fast with that light load.
its a great way to train athletics.
it would be nice to be able to edit teh values but with this engine, its just not possible, and a part of the coding the Dev is not willing tp open up.
I do understand. Truly. But... We're lucky that characters can see some of what is in their backpacks as it is. I don't think "counting" anything was ever invented in Kenshi... The container system and inventory system is one of those things that is shoehorned into the game. Some things work fine, some things "barely" work. It's pretty clear that some fudging was going on, there. :)
It works.
That's "good enough." :)
A note: Opening up the in-game editor to "do stuffs" and then "saving" is going to overwrite the original game files if an new mod was not created for that purposes, first... So, don't do that. :) "Saving" in the in-game editor isn't necessary to register the changes that will be then saved in one's saved game files AFAIK. Just "do stuffs" and then "exit." (I don't use it much, but this is my understanding of what's going on, there.) Also - AFAIK, if changes were made and saved, then it's going to get overwritten by a Verify while Saved Game files will not.
eg: "My NewWorld.mod has last week's date, which coincidentally matches the last time I opened up the in-game editor to move/create/spawn/do stuffs... What happened?"
