I'm not checking my exact frame rate, but the gameplay is generally pretty smooth bar the usual dips when loading terrain.
Scoob.
Actually, I should check my settings more thoroughly. I'm sure there's more stuff I can lower to improve performance whilst keeping low-res shadows enabled.
it's a problem of optimization, the CPU barely reaches 70% and only uses something of 2 gb of ram of my 16. That's why I was asking if they were going to upgrade to ogre 2.1 which supports multi-threaded. It seems that this will not be so, unless the game is very successful (I hope so)
Even though you can't see what is happening at one end of the map, squads are still patrolling, shops being used, and so on.
Kenshi is already successful, but I doubt they would spend a year rewriting the entire original code, when they have other games to create. Just for an FPS boost. It's wasted time, if you think about it, considering the amount of working hours it would take to complete. That's a year which could be spent on a new IP, or much needed time off to spend with families and whatever lol.
That's a poor excuse.
i have the same cpu and excellent performance... it's prolly something on his machine that's wrong
They already updated the engine once, the year+ it took resulted in the forums combusting.
I don't blame Chris for not wanting to go through that again. They can update to ogre 2.1 after release if need be. But for now Chris wants to release the game sometime before everyone dies of old age, 12+ years working on a single game (8 of those solo) is tough, even if its a passion project.
its not an excuse
its the Devs own words.
You are more than welcome to spend the next twelve years of your life working mostly solo on a project.
Oh what's that? You don't want to?
That's a poor excuse.
I ain't the one making a game here am I...
Now if I was I would make sure it doesn't run like a moldy potato.
