Venge, sky beams, and robotic limbs.
Is it intended for the sky beams to burn robotic limbs? Or are they special burn-y limbs different from other skeleton limbs that burn for some reason?

it was used to even erase entire areas, so it sure burnt a lot more in the past.
maybe it only burns at day because it needs sunlight on soem solar collectros (otherwise hard to imagine it would still work after all that time). But honestly if it oculd burn skeleton or limbs, damn it would crips a human in no time. Which game balance wise would be really weird. And given there are cloth with burn resistence being mostly leather. They indeed should not do damage to limbs.

It's even funnier when you have skeletons with replacement limbs that burn, but the skeleton's head, chest, and stomach is ok.

I avoid travelling through Venge during day, they seem to turn off their laser beams during nights. I wonder if anyone has built a base there?

If I remember correctly, the sky beam are considered a weather, as far as game mechanic are concerned. And you can change/remove weather for specific biome in the editor.

I have, but only because I normally play as skellies, so we don't care about the doom lasers, they don't affect us :) They sure as hell keep the bandits and other raids occupied though :D

Also, it's not so much that they're turned off at night as it is that they're solar powered, reflecting the sunlight down to the surface, possibly for terraforming, maybe for power generation. Or they were always intended as weapons. No one really knows.

@Erei: correct. You can activate skybeams in Holy Nation lands or anywhere else you don't like, and have fun watching them get torched :3

Can you be hurt by those? If so, then I ran through that area completely oblivious to that fact! I thought it was just a cool environmental effect, like heat shimmer or something. Though I *was* terrified the first time one flashed right behind me.

Yes, yes you can. As long as you're not immune to burn damage, either via armor or race.

Not directly, no. It's pretty unlikely for one to spawn on top of you, so mostly just stay out of their way after they spawn. Night travel, or burn protection is best though.

so it wont burn skeles or pack animals but people and there robotic limbs

Look at it this way, the laser is heating up your robot arm and burning the crap out of where it connects to your body

I'm sure you could remove them with the FCS, but they aren't that dangerous anyway.
It took me serious effort to try to kill one guy in them.
